Hi All,
This content is mainly copied across from my build thread on Edition 38.
I purchased the car back in 2013 to serve as my daily driver while I was building my 20V mk1 golf.
This successfully remained unmodified for a whole year and a half while I was busy with the mk1. It was only when the EGR valve, cooler and exhaust pressure sensor failed that I was 'forced' to do some initial mods. I wasnt keen to pay Audi's quote of £1400 to replace the parts so I ordered an EGR delete and decat from Darkside development. This ruled out having to fix/ replace the cooler and the pressure sensor. After fitting the new parts with the help of Olly (Olethalb) I went round to see Bobby Singh for a map who worked his magic and took it up to around 220/225bhp.
Another 6 months later and I decided to sell the mk1 to free up some money for a house. Not being able to find anywhere suitable meant that that money was sat in my account and temptation got the better of me.
New wheels - before, standard
after, Genuine 19" Rotor Arms
When buying the car the condition of the paintwork didn't bother me too much as it was 'only a daily' and still looked semi presentable. After a few washes it was obvious that the front end had been repainted and all the arches has been tidied up, sadly not very well. The front bumper looked especially bad and the paint was flaking in a few places.
Instead of just getting a few bits repainted I opted to have the whole thing done. I dropped the car off to Ross (RW Paint) who also painted the mk1. I stripped the bumpers, mirrors and lights out and noticed the drivers wing had split along the arch and was starting to rust to I ordered a replacement. Ross quickly got the car sanded back and straightened out.
Few more paint pictures.
