What have you done to your Audi A4 B7 today?

I didnt install the mirror, just the sensor i fitted on the glass, didnt install the ch switch neither but i can help you wire it all up. Tell me what you need. Btw fitting the auto light switch alone will make the lights light up when you turn on the car.

I know that as i try it but i want to use the light sensor on my mirror so he will tell when the lights need to be on !
I don't use Auto lights but need to wite my mirrror because of CH/lh

Wassup boys, my wallets taken a beating!

It's been a busy week for the DTM, it's had some repair & maintenance work done.

I've had a problem with my temp gauge reading low & the heat not blowing very hot. I changed the temp sensor myself but no joy. Just my luck it had to be the more complicated thermostat job.

I thought I'd be best to bring the timing belt job forward from next year just in case there was a fault with the waterpump too. I'm definitely not knowledgeable enough to even try & attempt this job, so I'll leave it to my trusty mechanic. TPS tb belt & waterpump, auxiliary belt, stat & coolant bought (£220 with £20 back for old pump), my mechanic went to work. I'm happy to say all is back to normal.

Got a spanking new 12 months ticket with only cv boot to do. Yep I'm a wuss, I got my mechanic to do it at the same time as tb belt service. £250 for all the labour inc the cv boot, not too bad I think. I made sure to keep receipts & get the service book stamped for the tb service.

Finally some jobs I can do. A full service was done. Oil, recharge induction kit, all filters inc fuel & ngkbkr7 plugs. I also fitted S4 caliper clips & gave the car a good clean.

Sorry guys I didn't get any pics of the maintenance work, but here's a few of the clips & some of the DTM cleaned up. I like to clean my car but I'm far from anal about it. With a everyday car & two kids it's no point going crazy because in three days it'll be filthy again.

Here's hoping for a trouble free 2017 motoring year, she owes me. Thanks for looking!

Finally fitted my OEM Xenons.
Basically I couldn't wait any longer to get my plastic lenses UV coated so I just took my old lights out and swapped the lenses over.

Still have to wire up the high beam flaps but will do that tomorrow.

Going to wait until the weather gets better and get some new brighter Xenon bulbs. Well until I have some pennies really as I forked out a small fortune for my BBK

Hi mate could you link me the guide you used? Im going to attempt this on weekend, cheers

I'll link it tomorrow for you pal as it's on the PC. Basically it's bumper off to swap the lights and then a little bit of messing about with the high beam flap wires and finally some coding with VCDS.

Carl what DRL bulbs are you using? You had to wire in resistors?

All I know Dani is that they are 48 Cree LED with a Mirror Reflector and are 700 lumen from HERE but they weren't £12 I'm sure of it. And yes I put the resistors in under the Xenon bulbs whilst I had them open.

"attempted" to retrofit xenon headlights this morning..... gave up after taking 3 bolts off just to get the bumper off. 1 snapped and the other was so stripped even a t40 was too small for it.

My offer still stands if anyone wants to fit them for me i could probably come to you (preferably someone close to hull) i have all the parts and would pay you for your time. cheers.

Never heard of that before, any good?

It's a hangover from my years in BMW coupes.

Where dry door seals mean wind whistling in your face, and not being able to get in the car when it freezes. :D

It conditions and softens the door and window seals. So they don't stick or leak.

Fitted Engine Covers and Scuttle Cover

Hey fella.. can you confirm the engine cover part numbers? I bought some a couple of years back and they never quite fitted right on my TDI so I put them away in the annoyed drawer...

Cheers!

Found out from the garage my engine is goosed.

2.0 tfsi with 76k and full service history, mostly Audi. The sump has been dropped and there is swarf on there and the top end is bone dry. Consensus is a new engine.

So, what engine shall I replace it with? I was thinking of getting the garage to drop a second hand S4 V8 in for me.

Opinions?

Ben

Damn, bad luck man. If your thinking of going for the V8, it might be worth doing the chains whilst it's out.

V8 is an option.

Or a 2.7t set up. Just wondering what people thoughts were on it. It's need an engine anyway so may as well upgrade while I can.

new engine will cost you silly money, recon would be a more viable option , either way your going to have to shell out a fair bit , i'd asking myself if it is worth the outlay .

The thought has crossed my mind but that not financially viable for me at this time.

Ben

i'd track down a recon 2.0tfsi engine then, straight forward swap if you stick with suitable code engine, if you start going bigger etc you'll be getting into bigger money so just going around the houses really and end up spending way more than you expect, also when you come to sell the car its value will be a lot less than if you stick with a suitable engine code tfsi 2.0

I appreciate the advise.

I was hoping I could turn a bad situation into a slightly better one, even if I had to add a few extra ££££'s.

Please check aircon part number as mine isn't a perfect fit, also if you need the fixings part no's just let me know and I'll dig them out too for you

Anyone had any dealings with German Engine Specialists in Eirth, Kent? They can supply and deliver a re-built 2.0 tfsi unit for £1495 plus vat.

Ben
