hello everybody.

I wondered if some one could help or give me some advise. So about 3 weeks ago I checked the service days / mileage on our a3 the mmi said 50 days to service and inspection service no problem I thought I'll book it in soon now the car has not moved since I checked the mmi today I go out to car and when I started the car I got a message 1 day to service inspection service.

So I can't understand how it can go from 50 days to 1 day in three weeks with no use of car in that time has anyone come across this before or could this be an issue.

Many thanks.

The car decided when it needs servicing on how it's driven, maybe it didn't like sitting for that period of time.

You better go hide quickly before @jassyo06 see this and starts shouting 'garage queen' insults at you :p :D hahahaha

That is an impressively low mileage figure, should hopefully hold its value well

I expect it's still depreciated by at least 25% (average depreciation after 2 ŷears around 40%) I would not look at Cost per mile and depreciation per mile as it will make you cry.

Each to there own but I would never buy a new car if I were only going to do under 600 miles a year...... That's approximately only two thirds of the average uk car mileage per month!!!!

Ok so think I have got to the bottom of the issue. A quick recap so 3 weeks ago the mmi told me the car required a service in 50 days three weeks later ie today the car tells me it requires its first service in 1day now the car has not moved in the three weeks been cosy and warm in garage. So checked paper work and found that we picked car up 7 Dec 2014 so one day would be about right for 1 st service but it has never shown a countdown on the dis except for today all very strange.

The Algorithm the car uses relies a lot in data it collects from the car itself as it learns about your driving style and habits as you do more miles. I expect given your very low mileage the algorithm is getting somewhat confused by your atypical driving habits and has defaulted to the time based date.

How have you done such little mileage? I am amazed!! Is the local supermarket 0.3 miles away and work even closer? That is a crazy amount of mileage haha, that would give any prospective buyers a great amount of doubt.

Thats what I'm thinking.

Don't use car for work just weekends I'm sure it will get snapped up when time comes to sell.

Under 10K per annum you should really be on fixed interval and had it serviced last December!

It won't have trouble selling, I'm just saying it would make me check about 10 times to make sure it was correct haha.

All I wonder is how you can't drive it, they are awesome to drive ;) I can't resist taking mine out for pointless trips....

If you used it every weekend that's 10 miles a weekend, hardly worth owning it. Even every 2nd weekend it's such a small milage you won't be getting the best from the car, but hey, it's your choice.
I don't use mine for work either, just weekends and some evening journeys and I'm sitting at 17k miles after 2 years.
BTW, That stupidly low milage won't give you as much back as you think when it comes to trade in time.
