Has anyone who has had the 45E3 service campaign applied noticed any difference in the Stop-Start function?

Prior to the update if you gently applied the brakes the engine kept running; if you applied them harder it stopped the engine. It was controllable and worked well.

Since the 45E3 update has been applied I have been unable to avoid the engine stopping no matter how gently I have braked.

I am going to take it back to have it checked but I wondered what everyone else's experience was?

What was the update actually for and when did it come out with which A4's and build dates?

The software element for this campaign is:
  • Software for ESP enhancement,
  • Instrument Cluster,
  • ECU door control unit
Mine was built at the end of April 2.0 TFSI S-tronic

Ok so mine might already have this applied, as it was built last month, it doesn't exhibit the same...

Mine was last month build too.
If I brake normally (used to drive a manual so still adjusting maybe) it'll cut out before I come to a stop, it's really annoying. I never found stop/start intrusive on my B8 but this is different.
Worst scenario I have found is approaching a roundabout where there is fencing on the island to the right to prevent you seeing until you are at the give way line (traffic calming). Approach the roundabout braking, get to the line, look right, engine cuts just as you go to let off the brake and then starts immediately causing just enough hesitation to rob you of any confidence.

Mine does the same, it kinda sorts itself out I guess but its weird to have that happen on a car...

I pretty much got into the habit that if I know I need a quick get away to flick the S-Tronic into sport mode, then back after - mainly because eco mode is not really responsive! That way stop/start does not activate.

Thanks for the replies. It's good to know that it not occurring on later builds so hopefully the garage can sort it.

Can you not assign the spare steering wheel button too?

You can set the * button for Drive select - but not just 'sport mode' - it's much quicker to just tap the shifter down imo. I have the * button assigned for voice guidance

I guess it's just as easy to do as you say, I use mine for traffic announcements, oh no I see a whole thread on what you're button's set too..

Was quite alarmed that the * doesn't work when in CarPlay mode. Seems bizarre to me.

I have mine as drive select as I'm trying to get my head around the differences between them and whether its worth using. Since its in an awkward position in the dash, it makes sense to put it on the wheel buttons.

@basegreen - yeah blatantly designed for LHD cars ;) those Darn Europeans!

Just picking this up late but we had the 45E3 update a few weeks ago and its cured the issues we had (outside temp wrong / clock losing time etc) but crucially, hasn't affected the way our Start/Stop operates, we seem to be lucky in the way ours works, we can brake to a standstill without S/S kicking in, press the brake harder and then S/S works - we can even then let off a little pressure from the brake pedal (not enough to allow the car move) and the car will start again.

That's how mine still does it, I've not been notified of this recall yet so I am assuming mine doesn't need this...

Thanks NickGun. Hopefully I can get mine back to work like that.

My A4 when I had it was built in Dec 2015 and I received a call from Audi in July wanting me to take it in for the mentioned campaign. Mine also had the stop start kick in when I was braking and slowing down to a standstill, which I thought was strange as I always switch the stop start off when I start my car up.

Will this recall ever get put on the DVLA website? Spoke to Audi customer support and they just pointed me towards that which has nothing about this...

I don't believe it will appear on the DLVA; it's a Service Campaign not a safety recall.

My dealer confirmed it does change the Stop/Start function. It is not reversible.
