Anyone fitted this make/type of uprated coil packs to their Audi S3 8P 2011 plate????

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-R8-V...563573?hash=item2ee3560ef5:g:vMoAAOSw3ydVkEml

I might not have the right one but interested in the make.

The write up looks good and they say they are popular in the forums but I can't find them mentioned on this forum, makes me wonder???

Can they make a difference? Are they "uprated" or better?

Any views appreciated.

Best I can say about coil packs is that the shockingly expensive( £700! ) Okada coil packs make about 1% difference at peak rpm on a 500bhp engine.

The stock packs cost a tiny fraction of that and work pretty much as well.

If that's the price each then you could spend the money elsewhere and get better results.

They look like a Chinese made clone part that has just been made with blue plastic and laser etched with a benchmark logo. As above there isn't that much wrong with the original part.

Any idea how long or how many miles stock ones should be changed?

Of course you could go for the R8 version which some claim provide better 'performance' - they were intended for a supercar after all ...

Basically when they fail.

Mine are still the originals...80+k miles and you know the rest.

That's the whole point....claims.

The Okadas were claimed to add power etc but on this engine even at 600bhp they add virtually nothing.

Storm tested mine with different sets of plugs and just got misfires as a result.
Basically if the original parts do the job without issues spend the money elsewhere.

Agreed. The red R8 coil packs look nice but they offer no performance increase.

The thing here is that as a few of us have said before, you're spending around £600 to get a 5%gain at peak rpm,and less at lower rpm.

So yes, there is a gain from them, but small, and should be considered against the cost of that money spent elsewhere on the engine.

I've had benchmark coils from TFSmotorsport on eBay done 6k miles in less than a year 2 have just given up . They come with a years warranty but struggling to get any response from the seller ! Stick to original ones.
