In a previous post I was reporting I had fitted an oil pressure gauge and found it was on the low side.

So had fitted a genuine Audi oil pump and sump gasket, work was all carried out by a Audi master tech own garage.
Was expecting some really high oil pressure figures, but now its not much more than my old pump, except the cold figures are high
than my old pump.
Oil used is 5W-40 Fuchs fully synthetic and Audi bigger oil filter fitted.
Tested today and these are the results, 1.8T sport AEB.

VDO oil pressure gauge 0-80 psi, VDO Sender 0-10 Bar. using an LMA adaptor for fitting the sender.

Cold,
Idle = 50 psi
1000rpm = 55 psi
2000rpm = 55 psi
3000rpm = 58 psi

Hot,
Idle = 13 psi
1000rpm = 18 psi
2000rpm = 32 psi
3000rpm = 38 psi
4000rpm = 40 psi

So what's going on?? the car runs fine, no oil warnings when driving, Maybe my gauge is not correct?
The only issue I have is when staring from cold I get three bleeps as soon as I turn the key and the no more after that,
This happened when I had my old pump, I wondered if the LMA adaptor is causing this as the oil pressure switch is on the end of the adaptor,
I never had three bleeps at start-up, ever, only after I fitted the LMA adaptor.

Which type of gauge it it, VDO? That's original or have you added it. O thought the b5 were like the c5 and only had oil temp as standard.

I have a mechanical Tim oil pressure gauge on my AHU tdi Cordoba, had an electrical but sent it straight back as it registered 0 psi once warm and about 80 psi cold. The mechanical is much better. The readings are 50-60 cold and 10-30 warm. I noticed my exhaust gas temps were a bit higher of late and them the water pump let go one night. The oil pressure was slighty lower than usual at this stage also. With the new water pump in place she is running as she should have been, cool, and now the oil pressure has raised to 20-40 or so psi when running warm. I have checked the oil pump for wear tolerances at approx 130,000 miles and I have them wrote down and can't remember them now but it's back in and I'm a fussy halyon and would've changed it if it was even half way through it 's tolerance allowance.

Hope that is of some use.

get yourself a mechanical guage and compare the readings. the guage or sender might not be right. Even if its just temporarily hooked up in the engine bay.

I bought a used VDO guage and the sender was fried. I've had a few cheap ebay guages and the senders died in those too. In my track car i bought an industrial pressure transducer and plumbed that in instead.

My track car makes 6-7 bar when cold. Even the old track car engine with a spun bearing would make 6-7bar when cold.

Hi, thanks for your replies, What about the 3 bleeps at start-up,? do you think the LMA adaptor is causing this? its a bit long for me,
maybe I should find a different adaptor.

three beeps at startup is usually an ABS issue, caused by a tired battery.

The dash ignores oil pressure at idle and so its unlikely you'd get beeps due to oil pressure immediately after starting.

Colder weather and an older battery means the voltage drops low enough while cranking for the ABS system to shutdown. Once the engine starts the ABS comes back online and thus you dont get any lights. It'll usually happen first thing in the morning after a cold frost, or if the cars been sitting a few days in the cold.
