Facelift Post Pics Of Your Facelift A3/S3 8V In Here

Always wondered with new cars, do they have a break in period or can you literally drive it like you stole it from day 1?

I'm no technical expert but I always go on the basis of not over-revving (<4000 rpm) or labouring the engine for the first 1000 miles. It's killing me as I'm only at 400 so far and want to see what it can do and what noises it makes properly.
In saying that, I couldn't resist with my S5 and had it up at 120 in the first week - never did it any harm

Looks absolutely stunning mate! That blue looks really good on the SB - bet you're pleased as punch!

Thanks @CookD, really pleased with the colour, looks different every time I see it depending on the light which I like.

Ive read quite a few forums regarding breaking the engine in and as you can imagine some polar opposite opinions. Im opting for a middle ground, trying not to exceed 4K rpm for the first 200 miles (although I have got carried away on a couple of occasions). After that will start to open it up on occasions when the engine is fully warm. Personally Im not going to worry too much after 400/500 miles, patience isn't my greatest virtue lol.

Go Team Navarra!
Looking great Frazer and the sun came out specially.
Out of interest how did you reduce the size of the pics? I've given up trying to post any meantime.

Hi @Audi Bairn , the pictures were on my iPhone which I emailed to my laptop, before sending it gives you the option to choose the size of the images, I chose the second largest which worked. Im sure there are better ways lol, but I didn't have long to sit down and work it out.

Hope this helps.

I held back to 4000rpm for one tank, so approximately 300 miles. After that I gently started to hit the red line for another 200.
500+ I started to drive it properly.

Not from a personal experience of course but within 100 miles I heard someone got to 130 out of temptation :O ;) He felt a little guilty afterwards and reigned it in.

Morning Guys,

My S3 Black Edition is still on for build date 9th Jan

Just wondered if anyone knows if the rear lights are tinted/smoked?? it appears on the video that they just sent me (Pic below)
Also anyone got another real life pictures of the Black edition wheels for the S3?

Not as far as I'm aware. I've got a Daytona grey black edition on order with the same build date. Ordered on 23/09. Can't find any pictures anywhere of them other than what's been posted on here

Says the toff with the 19"s as standard lol, l like em, don't like the tyres that are on them though..... 19"s are a must on any S3

I've been called many things before but never a toff ha ha!

It's weird. Must be an optical illusion due to the different wheel design, but I keep thinking my 19's on the S3 look smaller than the ones I had on the S5 (Rotors). Maybe I should check in case they're 18's :grimacing:

Managed to reduce the size of the images, hope the quality hasn't been effected too much.

So far I do not have anything negative to say about the S3, absolutely loving it and finding any excuse to take her for a quick spin. Struggling to drive conservatively as the noise in higher revs is addictive and those gear shifts

I will get some better pics in the sunlight over the weekend.

Off for a random lunchtime drive now :) View attachment 111212View attachment 111213View attachment 111214[/QUOTE

Looks fabulous Frazer, you must be delighted with it.

Maybe I'm a bit biased but in my opinion the chrome trim goes really well with Navarra Blue

Cool, sounds like you're loving it Richard.
Where have you been clocking up that mileage?
Is it a road trip holiday or is it with work?
Happy motoring!
A96 to work for a week, then a jaunt to Loch Rannoch, Glencoe, Fort William and around the centre of Scotland, then home via Dundee. Fab trip, fab scenery and weather. More and more pleased with the car as the weekend went on :)

Nice Avatar ....Fraz...........:sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses:

That's the first decent pic of the S3 BE i've seen, and to be fair, the wheels don't seem so bad, will be good to see them in the flesh, shame they weren't a little darker though. Nice find Jazzy.

On BE or Black Optic options, apart from wheels. I was wondering if anyone shares this opinion. I thought hard and long on the Black Optics package prior to ordering my S3 saloon in Ara Blue. I went with the standard chrome/gray look for a few reasons.....I have a black honeycomb grille on my present white VW GLI that is a pain in the **** to clean but looks great at a close up view, but this is the kicker, all vehicles I look at with blacked out front grille areas from a distance look as if they are missing something, especially if it is a large grille opening.
Also the BE S3 grille is not a honeycomb design and has a black surround...a chrome surround might look better.
I was at first thoughts going to go with a Black Optics and in Canada the wheels remain with the standard 19" unlike the UK version. I thought that with the Ara Blue this would look pretty good, but I changed my mind for the reasons I have stated and also I like the silver mirror caps

Love mine. Hard to find fault. Interior is stunning. Noise is addictive. B&O sounds brilliant. Oh and launch control is excellent.!!

Build week 2 confirmed, car should be with the dealer by beginning of Feb. Would you wait it out a month to get it on a 17 plate? Car is on a PCP so will go back in 2/3 years any way. Thoughts?

I would wait for the sake of max 4 weeks.
Last car arrived in early Jan '14 and I didn't wait until March but had said to the sales guy if it arrives in Feb I'll wait.

Stunning in silver, congrats!
Car collection this time of year is a pain.
Washed mine last weekend when it was a week old and dirty again but no time to clean it this weekend sadly.

Just out of interest, what is the residual value like on the S3 FL? Is it still early days to find out?
