On my S3 I have noticed that the front seat belt holsters are constantly rattling when the set belts are plugged in. The holsters have been replaced by my dealer but are now rattling even more. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know how to stop it.

As above - my driver's seat belt buckle rattles constantly when driving over bumps but only when it's plugged in. I've coughed up and bought a brand new one (not fitted yet) in the hope it cures the problem as it's driving me crazy. The rattle noise comes from inside the buckle. If anyone has any bright ideas or has cured this fault before, I would be most appreciative if you could share your experience. Cheers!

Thought I’d update this thread. As mentioned previously I purchased two seat belt buckles from Audi as I knew I wouldn’t be able to stand having one with an old ageing pink button and one shiny and new.

Replacing the buckle was a ball ache though. You need to remove the seat from the vehicle by removing the lower plastic cover which is underneath the manual seat adjustment handle. Once the cover has been wrestled off (try not to break the plastic tabs or the metal flap that secures it - there are no screws). Then you can access the two bolts that secure the seat subframe to the floor of the car. Remove those, disconnect the electric plugs, and then push the whole seat backwards so the wheels come out the recesses in the car and then remove from seats from the vehicle. They are pretty heavy so be careful!! The bolt which holds the seat belt buckle is screwed into the subframe (it’s a threaded hole).

You’ll need a size M7, 12 pointed spline socket tool to remove.

My bolt was rounded off because in my haste I used a normal Torx tool which slipped just once. That destroyed the bolt, so be warned! Use the proper tool! I bought a set off EBay for about a tenner after that! The new tool didn’t work either once it arrived, it just slipped. So, I then spent ages trying to remove it. In the end a combination of swearing and scraped knuckles, drilling, pliers, cutting etc I did get it off with some mole grips. New bolts were ordered from Audi as they are really weird. Now my rattling seat belt buckle is in the bin and a new one attached. From memory I think the buckles cost me about £25 each; four-ish years ago.

Rattling buckle now solved.
