Every time me or the wife trade our cars in we get a form from the above asking to confirm details of mileage, dates etc relating to the car we've just traded in.
It claims to be connected to the HPI check.
Does anyone know if this is an official / legitimate body or not?
We usually fill it in and return the form but started wondering whether we should or not.
We've both just had one following our recent car changes.

I haven't had anything through the post this time around, but did sign something at the dealers to confirm mileage when I collected the new car. Like you, I've always filled it in and sent back previously.

I've never seen this additional form either. IIRC there is a box on the V5 where you can voluntarily fill in the mileage at time of ownership change for the DVLA records, which I assume is one of the sources Hpi use to get their info from (probably at some cost to them) whereas if they they get the info directly from you it costs them nothing. I'd assume they're trying to source the info for no cost now as basic Hpi type checks can be done for free whereas in the past (pre internet) you paid for absolutely any info from them.

I've had them through the post before after trading in a low milage car, I believe it's a way for dealers to confirm low mileage cars. There's no requirement to fill it in but I usually do.

Yeah, it's not compulsory but they usually pester you if you don't.
I don't mind doing it if it's legit, as it helps cut fraud, clocking etc. for the next owner.

I had one when my first S3 went back with 5000 miles on the clock.
