Just had a quotation from my dealer for an A3 Saloon, 2.0TFSI Black Edition with metallic paint. Can anyone try and explain it to me as I'm just not seeing what he's doing with the figures.

He's valuing my current car at £13500, and I have a settlement figure of £14910. The quote is based on me putting £500 down.

Coast2coast do the same car for £26539.

What's confusing me is the advance of £300.65.

Hmmm... assuming that the settlement figure will come down before you actually sign? No mention of the £500 as you say, so yes, alarm bells should start ringing. Ask for full explanation.

Pretty simple is it not (this could come back to bit me starting off like that if I'm wrong ha), but has he not just misheard you/incorrectly input a deposit of 300 and not the 500?

This is always confusing, but looking at the coast2coast price, and the amount of credit for the new Saloon, your dealer are £2225.00 more expensive.

I take it your car is in negative equity of £1410.00 , Is that correct?

Then the dealer is only £815.00 more expensive, and there taking you A3 off you.

But what do i know, i have a cat where a melon, wearing a crash helmet as my avatar.

Surely he knows the price he wants for the car? Then to that price you'd add £1410 to give to total price from which there'd be a £500 deposit to pay by me?

His email states this assumes you're putting down a £500 deposit.

£33.5k to buy a car you can get for £26.5k while also having to pay them £1500 to give them your car....?

Yea not exactly deal of the century, to put it mildly!

Migiwire, what is the total for the A3 BE Saloon, is it £30,065.00 for manual version or is it the Quattro S-tronic version?

Yeah, I'm more interested in what he's done with his numbers to be honest. I'd sooner hang on to the vehicle than take such a deal.

It's a manual and I do believe that the RRP with metallic paint is indeed £30,065.

I would suggest the £300 figure is taking into account your negative equity minus your £500 deposit and any dealer/Audi finance contribution which has resulted in a net surplus of £300 for you which has then been deducted from the price of the car, interest then added on then final payment deducted from the total with the balance divided by 48 to give you your monthly payments.
Hope that makes sense and helps? I could of course be totally wrong but I'm sure your dealer can clear it all up for you
