Funny one here, Under the bonnet I noticed a far bit of cat hairs stuck on the engine fire protection felt cover. Looking further I noticed a bit of damaged on some felt protection at the top right of the engine. Please see Picture below:

Cat Damage

Anybody can help with the name of the part or felt bit need replacing? I have no idea what this is called..

The cat has used it's claws to climb up on this and bits of fibres are now exposed. I have taped black duck tape over this for now to save anymore fibres getting in the engine. But looks a bit cheap and tacky.

Can anyone suggest how to prevent cats for doing this?

At the minute I am using cat repellent around the drive and a tray of water under the car where the cat climbs up. But looking for some long term solutions.

At least the evil thing did not climb onto the bonnet with it's dirty, scratchy paws!

If it was up to me - Bin liner and lake, spring to mind.

Is it defo a cat? I had mice get into mine on my old b6. And I set mouse trap / bait. I currently had nine of the little loves and they never get in the engine bay

You'd need a big bin liner to put a car in. Not sure pushing it into the lake would solve anything either. Unless the cat was in the car at the time.

Solution so far..Thats does not require a knock on your door from the RSPCA.
Cedar Wood Rings secured with a cable tie on the pipe over where the cat is climbing up.
Cats hate the smell of Cedar.

You should have two plastic trays under the front end of you car.

See the day light coming in on left and the bottom of this picture. Should I have an engine tray covering this up?

Hard to say really you need to get under and have a look

Try sneaking into your car late at night whilst the engine is still warm and start it and go so fast it doesn't have time to escape and take it for the ride if it's life! And let that engine get as hot as you can make it! Then when you can smell cooking cat that should have solved your problem and also you've done your bit for nature and kept the cat nice and warm!!! Was that too much :scared2:

It was only the closed cell foam material that field mice attacked on my S4 parked in the garage, wife's 2015 Polo parked next to it escaped any chewing, but it does not have that material on it. Ibiza parked outside also got its closed cell foam chewed, seemed to have that family last year, sadly so far this year all I've caught in the garage is a shrew!

See if you can find something metallic that it needs to come into contact with on its route into its comfy zone and hook it up to a medium amp circuit...

Why medium??? Haha.
Well... You (really) don't want to kill it (burnt cat would be a smell that would hang around for a long while, I'd assume) but you want to give it enough of a jolt to not come back...

Sounds like you might be talking from experience :p

Christ I hope the RSPCA don't check forums.

I hope they do... And view them with the same acceptance as any other type of jest...

Besides, it's not like I suggested setting fire to them or anything....

That would damage the car...
