So here's a couple of pics of the engine bay from my 1998 A3 1.8T. Posting them because i've just fitted a Carbonio CAI to replace my previous Green Panel Filter in OE Airbox setup.
Under there are a load of Forge Motorsport silicone hoses and a Forge 007p. Not the prettiest engine bay in the world but perhaps of interest to some.
My car has the AGU engine with the old style coil packs that require a seperate ignition controller to amplify the signal from the ECU. As this gets warm it is fitted with a heatsink and located in the OE airbox to aid cooling. As i've ditched the airbox i had to fabricate a bracket for the controller and locate it so that the heatsink can still function. As i've junked the OE air intake, the vents in the badge grill allow air directly in to the engine bay. I've found this still gives sufficient cooling to the controller so everything is working OK.
A lot of CAI manufacturers don't list their filters for the AGU because of this problem, but this modification allows one to be installed with out any detrimental effects.
