Hi all,

Ive mentioned this before but still not managed to get to the bottom of it.

my car is a 2.0 tfsi bul engine.

when I put my foot down at the top end of the rev range there is a screaming noise and its really irritating that I cant get to the bottom of it.

does anyone have any ideas at all. ive checked for boost leaks but cant find anything, ive changed the dv and the pcv and I also had the turbo refurbished a few months ago.

does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this.

Thanks
Darren

Could you add a decent sound clip? it might help someone diagnose the problem.

Also, in before anyone else....
have you tried driving without the wife/gf to see if the screaming goes away

I tried recording it the other day but you couldn't really hear it properly.

it almost sounds like a metallic scream if that's even possible?

tried that already mate... made no difference.

Morning all. Don't suppose there is anyone in bradford area who is familiar with the tfsi engine who would be willing to have a listen to my car.

Tried a few times to take a video and had no success.

Thanks
Darren

going to get a friend to sit in the car tomorrow with the window open and see if he can get the sound on video.

Is it only when you're on the move? Just wondering if it is could it be gearbox related

It's just if I put my foot down bud at the top of the rev range.

Does it do it if you're stationary just revving the car?

I've not tried it tbh.

Managed to get a video. This is the best I could get. It's louder in person though.

If you listen to it at the top of the rev you can hear it.

Hmmm yeah, does sound like as you say something rattling against the chassis or a like. Absolutely no idea, sorry.

I dunno, loose heat shield or something like that

in person it sounds like more of a metallic scream than a rattle. its doing my head in ha.

Could it be a slight leak somehwere, that's only apparent on WOT? I'm not too sure I'm just throwing ideas out there lol

Possibly chap. I've always thought that it doesn't perform how it should.

I periodically lift the bonnet and tighten things up every few weeks and it tends to feel better for a few days for it.

Doesn't make the noise go away though.

Think you've already said it but smoke test would be good if you suspect a leak

Yea I think I will bud. Messaged my mechanic mate to see if he knows anywhere local that do it.

Where abouts are you Darren?

Hi there,

Did you get to the bottom of this as mine is doing the exact same thing.

Ben

You tried changing the PCV Valve? Heard these can make this noise at the top of the rev range.
