S3 Wing Mirrors!!!!

Well woke up this morning to find that somebody in the night has helped themselves to my wing mirrors!!

You cannot have anything nice these days!!

I have not got any quotes yet but I cannot see the replacements been cheap!!

Anyway rant over, can anybody advise if the dimming element is just the glass or or if something else is different?
 
I feel sick for you mate, absolute scum.
Main dealer replacements will be eye watering tbh, the dimming is just the glass, but these on there own aren't cheap at around £150+ each
Second hand is the cheapest option by far but then you could be unwittingly contributing to someone else's misery
 
The glass is the dimming element & its more like £300 per side for the glass these days, I have a setup you maybe interested in, ping me a pm for more information as I can supply/fit.

I am really angry but I am just in 2 minds of what to do, I can fix them but this could just happen again or do I just put some standards ones on!!

Absolute scum bags, this is the reason I changed my mirror caps to black. Keep your eye on ebay and facebook for sale pages. I have seen them pop up on there a few times with the seller not even 100% sure what car they are off, which is obviously suspicious. Might help you track them down.
 
That is what I am thinking to be honest, I think the black covers would be a much better idea. Just really annoys me that you have to think about it like that!!
 
Can anybody tell me please if the wing mirrors off and 3 door or sportback are same? I am just looking at scrap yards but I am not sure if the 3 door versions will fit??
 
AFAIK where they mount to the door are a slightly different shape on 3 door cars as opposed to the sportback.
I did read somewhere that they do go on but not properly!
 
2007-2009 are same shape

2010-2013 are different

I have a 2009 A3 Sportback and bout 2010 model ones to find out that they mount differently to the door

Sportback will fit 3 door

I know how you feel. Someone took mine in Jan this year. Makes my blood boil thinking about it. Some people need to get a life and stop ruining people's pride and joy. I went through insurance to get a replacements. Not cheap for folding and dimming ones.
