a friend of mine bought a tourag about 6 months ago and kept moaning that the start/stop was kicking in while moving; he got that annoyed he tried to reject the car

At the same time I'd been loaned an a3 with s-tronic and didn't notice any problem, the start/stop only engaged when the brake was depressed hard - this is only a potential issue with autos as the manual stop/start requires more than depressing the brake

My C7 seems to be suffering from the same issue though and cuts out from 5mph, very annoying if creeping upto a junction or manuvering into a parking space, I also had it happen while on a roundabout last night with a decent amount of steering angle

Anyone else experienced this? It's really annoying that the same system in the A3 I drove was spot on, and yet this doesn't work in the same way on the A6, tempted to take the car in the dealer to query it too

I think on yours that's actually a feature - have a look in your manual as it can be disabled. I know a mate of mine had a new A4 as a loan car and that did what you described

Mine (2012 model) however does this at about 1-2mph and it shouldn't do; does my head in!!

This is normal for the ultra model, the start/stop is way to aggressive. It's another reason I went to the the quattro version after rejecting my ultra as that is more controlled by press the brake peddle hard, but I guess it increases the fuel efficiency figures and you get the £30 a year tax on the ultra v £140 for the quattro.

I actually find it quite dangerous especially when steering!

Mine cuts in before the car comes to a stop - I really don't mind it. What does annoy me about the SS is there is no rhyme or reason about when it wants to work. Even when all the SS conditions are met, the car will decide it can't be ***** and flashes up the white SS icon with the the strikethrough on the dashboard.

A friend of mine used to be an auto electrician and I was asking him why it didn't always cut out when I stopped at lights/in traffic. He told me it won't cutout if the battery charge is below a certain percentage as it will need the engine to keep running to charge.

Fafa - thanks - I can monitor my battery charge on the hard wired dashcams I have, will have a look at the recordings when it decides it's not playing.

It also won't come on if the DPF is doing a regeneration.
