Hi,

I was wondering if any S3 owners are based around London who have done a remap? I wanted to feel the difference before considering purchasing one. Also any advice and recommendations would be welcome!

I rather not have any TD1 issues so sticking with the tuning box.

Hi, I've heard the tuning boxes can sometimes be detected but it's a lot less obvious to a remap. If you don't want to risk a td1 then maybe try a pedal box? Then add the tuning box once your warranty expires?

I have done a fair amount of research and am confident the box wont flag up TD1 if your remove it before handing it in to the dealers. Sure they could probably find some trace if they look deep enough but i doubt any dealer would do this at any point.

But pedal box on its own probably wont make much of a difference

You would be very surprised on how responsive the pedal box actually is. I had this as well as a DTUK and was very impressed. Sold them now and sold separately, pedal box buyer was scared about warranty and I've believe he's very happy.

We've just had a brand new S3 back into Audi for a full warranty scan, and nothing was flagged :)

There is rumour of a tb1 flag now though eg tuning boxes possibly being detected. Unaware of anyone caught as yet.

i think some common sense needs to apply here..............the web is a rumour factory.
if your car is in for a service are they going to go looking for a tuning box no and Audi won't detect when they plug in the car to their systems (assuming tuning box removed)
if your car is in for a blown turbo under warranty might they go looking for evidence of 3rd party software, maybe, but they would have to go way down in the detail which is unlikely for Joe Bloggs who has an otherwise standard car (or reg no has appeared on a forum).

A tuning box/remap is making the car do things that Audi did not specify therefore somewhere within the car's memory Audi could, if they were stumping up for a big enough repair, go looking for but unlikely but for serious warranty claims. A pedal box doesn't make the car do anything Audi didn't want it to i.e. the pedal box changes the data to the ecu but is still within the values Audi specified the car to have.

I have a pedal box and makes the car feel much more alive and have so far resisted the need for a tuning box, with the pedal box on race the car feels much more on its toes and how 300bhp should feel.
