Hey,

so, my cluster or something isn't reading the water temp exactly.
Sometimes, when I just turn the engine on, in one-two minutes the water temp is at 90 or 120 Celsius on cluster, but the engine is cold (head, intake, rad hoses,...)
Before turning the engine on, or when is start, the reading is 60 Celsius or even 70, is like random, sometimes are all fine, and on other occasion totally different.

Here is a guy had figured out with bad ground on cluster and then was all fine, I think? Can this be, what ground?

I believe I had the same kind of problem before swap to (1.6-1.8t)
The 1.8t engine was fully serviced 1 year ago by previous owner(new pump, thermostat, etc...), and 2-3 months ago by me (headgasket, valves, etc..)

thanks

New coolant temp sensor?

^^^ What he said

Coolant temp sensor is the favourite (very common fault) however you mention an engine swap so could also be a wiring issue in which case good luck :)

I doubt, it's coolant temp sensor on that engine too.
Can it be checked via OBD(vcds-lite), like what temp is it atm when is cold/hot, so I can really check if it is working properly?

thanks

Check it with key on from cold for plausibility.
If plausible, you should then you check it through warm up (while agitating loom).
