What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

Absolutely devastated.
After a good fight with the carriers bolts, which I won BTW, tried my s4 calipers put the wheel back on and had about 5mm clearance.. Give or take.
So I decided to try the calipers with the rotors. Put the rotors on. Fine.
Secure them so they don't fall on me and grabbed the calipers..
Here's where s*** went downhill.
Before the carriers reaches the mounting holes the carrier hits the rotor, which means the bloke that sold me those as s4 carriers for 345mm rotors either tricked me or didn't know what he had.
My guess is they are for 320mm rotors.
Back to hunting carriers again..
Anyone knows how to spot the difference between 320mm and 345mm carriers?

Rotors on.. Got so mad after this I even forgot to snap the clearance with the wheel on..

Sorry to hear that Pal.

If you dont get enough responses, be sure to put it up as a post in the main section.

Yeah man.. Had everything lined up to find the carriers don't fit..
Was a good idea to leave the calipers in place with the line connected. Otherwise it would be a big job for nothing..

How to do that?
Create a new thread is that it?

Quite chuffed with myself if I do say so..

I have upgraded super bright LED number plate lights. Due to corrosion, the right LED's keep failing. Poor contact and also what looks like water or moisture ingress. It also doesnt help that AUDI makes number plate light screws out of cheese.

Solution

A few memebers in the past have ended up purchasing the plastic unit which houses the number plate light plus copper connectors plus push in recess for boot access.

I snapped off my old light housing, with needle nose pliers managed to get the damn screw out with WD40 soaked in.
I saw the 2 copper connectors where BADLY corroded. They are hard to get to so I attached some sand papper on the end of a chop stick and proceeded to remove all the corrosion. I did this in small light swipes until it looked new! Sprayed on electrical cleaner and put the new light with housing on.

Hey presto..it worked and lovely beaming LED lights!

Yeah I bet.

Oh sorry yes. I meant just create a new thread in the main B6 section as this is more for showing people what youve done as opposed to issues or problems.

Haven't really done a great deal to the cab recently, but did change the instrument dial backing tonight ...

And then found this ... either the previous owner or the dealer I bought the car from had put corking or similar in light cluster to cover up the engine check light, to say I was a bit peeved would be an understatement. But in all honesty I didn't even notice it not coming on :hopelessness:, think the reason they did this was because they couldn't diagnose the pcv valve being knackered & shat themselves thinking it was a bigger problem.
Luckily it was one of the first things I replaced when I got the car & it shows no faults when scanned .....

Amazing!!

Where did you get this from? I want one :)

Fitted a couple of new front tyres and selling my part worn ones in the classifieds.

With the recent water intake from the roof rack, I'm getting the roof painted as it has bubbles in the paint.. already bought new sealings for the roof rack, but what about the shark fin antenna?
Can't find the number for it, but it looks like an O-ring..
also getting the antenna painted so it matches the rest..
but that sealing? Is it available separately?

3D printed a holder for the ambient leds and made my own instead of buying the original

Got the roof painted.. It had almost a hole through the roof below the rails
so don't know if it was the rail sealings or small hole which caused the wet liner..

Personally I wouldn't be happy putting it back on a freshly painted roof looking like that , I'd have to treat it with Loctite 7503 or similar ....

Its worth treating now while it is off personally..........even if it is a simple sanding, clean and a bit of primer and paint

Fitted rs4 pedals and foot rest, wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. fitting my new 3rd brake light took more doing, think Audi glued it back together when they fit my new boot so it totally fell to bits.

Yesterday I refitted the inside of the car, and with the rain coming down, it looks like there's no more leaking..
Took me 6 hours with a bit of fiddling with the sunroof and handling the headliner on my own...
Before fitting the A, B and C liners, I gave them some sound and thermo insulator.. don't know if it is noticeable, but now it's there..

Today, winterwheels and tires came on.. bring on the snow..(wish I had Quattro)

That looks awesome.. how did you reset the needles so they are in the right place? are they spring loaded? or rest in a certain place?

I reset the needles with the help of the Torque app on Andriod & a bluetooth ODB device , by this I mean I used the torque displayed values and adjust the needles by hand to get the correct readings .... There is more than likely a much better way to to this, but it worked for me.

The needles are a git to get off, you need a lever either side & apply pressure equally to pop them off their pins .

Service, MoT, new tandem pump, new front discs and pads, power steering fluid change all done this week...should keep going for a tad longer ;)

Had a nightmare of a day replacing the pedal bracket. And now the clutch switch doesn't engage or disengage as the pedal doesn't touch it

Installed some cob leds into the boot panel. Best mod I've done all year, great for the dark and cost £3!

If you get the early B7 remote with the correct freq then yes it is possible. I did mine a few years ago, but did use the imobiliser chip out of my emergency key, so not to break the one in my other keys, as they are glued in and the glass capsule easily breaks if heavy handed.
