Dropped the car off to my mate Dean' on Monday and collected yesterday. He even kindly fitted my new centre caps and 15mm spacers for the rear. I then fitted the black wheel nut caps

Really happy with the finish of the wheel. Decided to stick with the standard silver :)

Rhyso how did you manage fitting the led indicator on the drivers side I removed the air box but just couldn't get to turn the holder in the car in the process snapped the little black plastic lugs off the led would this make a difference do you think for fitting pm'd Trups but he hasn't come back to me

I managed to do it without removing the airbox

It was perserverance really; you need to make sure you twist anti-clockwise to release the bulb. They are in tight and I found that the size of the led bulb made it really awkward to put back in

I think those lugs help locate the bulb in the headlight

I managed to get the bulb out and swapped over I know what you mean about tight in length had to push really hard to get it into the housing just can't turn it to locate

How did you got your in dash screen sorted. Mine makes rattling noise as well when I close it.

The garage I bought it from simply sprayed a load of lubricant on the mechanism and opened and closed it a few times. Not sure of the exact type they used though; can't remember what he said :(

It did the trick though!

Had a trip up through Mid Wales the other day and got this

And finally found some time today to remove over 3000 miles worth of grime....

In other news the UniRoyals are about to give up after just 12,500 miles :(

Ordered some Michelin PS3's at £200 per corner fitted.......could have gotten them a few quid cheaper but the garage I use always do a great job of balancing the wheels (hide the weights!) and have never damaged a wheel

I just hope they last considerably longer :(

I get around 12-13K with PS3's. If you want longer lasting tyres then got for the michelin primacy you should see around 18K out of them. It's a trade off with grip v miles.

Must have been driving around like a granny! I've never seen that many miles from PS3's and been using them since they were released was on PS2's before them, and they gave the same amount of miles. Most miles I've got from tyres was primacy, the worst was P zero's they grip like snot but were shot in let then 10k miles.

Ha i wish he did but it those miles included a handful of track days and some charity runway events!!

Hmm looks like the next 12 months will reveal all :(. If I don't get the mileage out of them then I'll stick with the UniRoyals.....

I had Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 2 on my CC and I got around 20,000 miles out of them. Thinking to get same for my A6 or maybe run flat tyres.

Which left me with this

Which meant I can do this

I udpated my firmware to K0900 but when I insert the sim it disconnects my bluetooth phone. I can't seem to find how can I use sim for data and phone for calls.

How you did it?

When I inserted the sim it asked me what i wanted to use it for. At least it did at some point

I think i had to enable an option in the hidden green menu prior to that though

Yes, I found that. I enabled it through hidden menu and when I insert it it asks me which SIM I want to use for phone calls but I can't see SIM signal on bottom neither I can activate Google Earth

Not good that - was it the cold that cracked it?
Hope you get it sorted, and that will be all the bad luck you have this year.

Not 100% sure :(

I've never had a windscreen go via cracking in the cold. Will ring my insurance company tomorrow and get it sorted. My MOT is due this month though I think it would still pass due to the position of the crack

****** annoying!!

I'd be interested in retro fitting these fan washers onto my pre facelifted 12 A6. Is there a non heated version of the fan spray washer? If not I take it the heated version will work just fine?
Thanks

I honestly don't know. I thought they were all heated on the A6??

Use the forums Parts Request feature to find out :)

I'd assume they would work fine anyway :)

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll just go with the heated washers

I just received my washers and have a quick question. They are marked last and right, go on a right hand drive A6 what size does the right washer go on? Drivers or passengers side
Thanks

your left and right is as you sit in the car, not looking at it from the front.

Fitted my washers today. Way better. I was surprised my car was fitted with heated washers ! Esp being a 2012. The only optional extras that I've noticed on my are 19"wheels, heated seats and AMI.

So today marks a years ownership of the A6

In that time i have

Covered 14,500
Replaced the interior lights for LEDS and the indicator bulbs
Rubber mats all round
Replaced the rear brakes
Had it serviced
Had the wheels refurbed
Started to correct the paintwork
Gone through a set of tyres
Averaged 35mpg.... :lipsrsealed:

Finally had the windscreen replaced (kept getting delayed due to the weather) but they are coming back out today as there is something rattling under the scuttle panel; at least I hope it's under there otherwise I could potentially be looking at stripping the dashboard apart :/

What has the last 12 months revealed??

Apart from the slight shock of the MPG and burning through a set of tyres the A6 is an astonishing bit of kit. The ride is comfy, even on 19 inch wheels, as it soaks up all the little bumps and potholes that would have had the A3 slipping across the tarmac

The Quattro system is brilliant; it gives you so much grip in all conditions. Even with snow on the ground it simply dug the tyres in and propelled me up the road. It's important to note here, that no one shoukd take this system for granted. It won't save you from black ice and therefore shoukd be treated with respect. I see far too many people in 4x4's bombing along in poor conditions and then watch as they have a 'moment' :lipsrsealed:

It even passed its MOT last week
http://vv2u.co/7Ci3N

So the next job is to replaced the front brakes. I'll also whip off the undertray as I suspect (hope) the oil that was found is from an old leak. The car hasn't used a drop of oil since being serviced 4500 miles ago

What's in store for the A6 this year?? An RS6 style front grill is high on my list and also getting the paintwork up to a decent standard

Other than that it's simply a case of using it for what it was designed for; which it does very well and hopefully NOT lose my licence :lipsrsealed:

Thanks Martin :)

I tend to keep my car 4 years+ so hopefully the A6 will be around for a long time to come!

I've got some more thoughts which I'll type below

Things I like:
It's comfortable - the primary and secondary ride is, IMO, very good. My old A3 on S-Line suspension was bumpy and crashy and tended to skip you across the road. The A6 simply absorbs all but the harshest of bumps. It took myself and 3 mates to France without breaking a sweat; all 3 of them fell asleep as I drove!!

DSG - 99% of the time it's awesome. The shifts are smooth in either full auto or manual mode, allowing you to make comical progress
The 1% when it isn't is mainly when approaching junctions / roundabouts and instead of perhaps holding 3rd gear it drops you into second and makes you look like a learner who is over-revving the engine........

Quattro - as above. This is my first Quattro driven car and I can't see me having anything but in the future. I have been seriously impressed by the drive train :)

Engine - I waited about 48 hours before mapping it; it has effortless overtaking ability......perhaps too much as I find myself going for gaps that I wouldn't even have entertained in my A3 which was running over 200bhp.....!

Advanced key:
Being able to simply walk up to the car and open it without having to fumble for a set of keys is great! My missus isn't too sure as she likes to rip the handle off when she locks the car so keyless would be no good for her lol

Things I don't like:
Start / Stop system - has a mind of it's own. I'm now wondering if the poor condition of my front discs are to blame for it cutting out early??

Lack of dipstick - call me old fashioned but I do like to physically check the oil level myself and not rely on some sensor......

Throttle response in drive mode - even mapped the throttle response is not what I expect of a V6 so I spend 95% of my time in Sport Manual!

That's about it really! Running costs have been a little higher than expected but then I do remind myself I am running a 280bhp+ 3.0 V6!!

Found my rattle! Or rather my mate did when I was on the phone to him........

The screw holding the overhead light console had come loose and was rolling around. He could hear it over the handsfree kit.

Felt a bit silly as the windscreen guys came back out and took the screen back out and couldn't find anything......! Had another new windscreen fitted lol
