Hi

Just to clear some confusion before buying a 1L top up for my FL S3.
I assume the car came with oil for flexible service so VW 504 00. On collection I switched to fixed service which seems to use VW 502 00.
(according to the car manual - screenshot attached)

It should be ok to mix VW 504 with VW 502. Correct?
And what would be best:
0W-30, 5W-30, 0W-40, 5W-40?
Castrol FST, Shell Helix, Motul, Mobil, ?

Tried to look for existing threads but I'm none the wiser... I read VW 504 and VW 507 being mentioned which doesn't seem to match the manual...

That should be good. Correct?

Didn't you get a litre with the car - in the boot?

Oil is about quality , 502.00 is a lesser quality .

Use 504.00 .

I didn't get it.

To the OP - is your car using oil?

My last few new cars have never needed oil between top ups.

No but I'm just being cautious :) And because I did not get 1L with the car I'd rather have one in the boot just in case.

Castrol edge is expensive but approved .

But so is VW's own Quantum , but inexpensive .

I've never needed it either but there has always been a litre of Shell Helix in the boot on handover - and a bottle of champagne. No free telephone lead this time but everyone has spare USB - micro USB leads kicking about in their junk drawers these days.

I got oil with every previous (diesel) Audi, but not the S3. Wondered if it was a diesel-only thing...? I did get a nice short coiled Lightning to USB connector for the iPhone tho.

My s3 used a full litre of oil in 6000 miles, I had 1 litre provided with the car, it even came in a Audi/Castrol pouch

According to West London Audi, Audi have stopped putting the free 1 Litre in the boot to save money!
They gave me one - complete with pouch - after I made the comment that the past 4 Audi's had it why hasn't this one

I got a litre with my pre-FL, in a velcro backed pouch which sticks to the carpeted sides in the boot. I have never used it, so I guess this means I should keep it in case they don't supply one with the FL S3.

Ok. Just bought "Castrol Edge Titanium 5w-30 LL FST Fully Synthetic Car Engine Oil - 1 Litre" from Opie Oils. £12.70 incl. delivery + a pouch on eBay for another £5

Sorry to hijack the thread but I was wondering... The first service is due around 9000 miles which I assume is merely an oil and filter change? If so, I could do this myself but I'm on a PCP. Where does one stand when on a PCP when it comes to servicing?

I was investigating whether I need to go to Audi or not as it is PCP... Was thinking of going to a local specialist instead (number 1 revo dealer in 2015 too)

But somewhere I read that the GMFV is based on damage, mileage, and getting it serviced at the dealer network - but I need to do some more research

There have been a few threads on here regarding non dealer servicing .....Provided you use VAG approved parts in your servicing you will be covered on warranty...As for terms of contract and servicing all I can say is there's nothing in my contract that states where I get my servicing done....But you should check this yourself to be sure...:friends:

Don't service it yourself :O It's just morally wrong to service any new car yourself, let alone an S3. What you save, you will lose in vehicle value for a car that is missing stamps (Audi's digital service record, these days). Pay the £179 for a service.

Audi don't seem to be consistent with their pricing. I've heard as much as £350 for first service. Even at £179 I could do the oil change myself for under £80 saving £100. I don't care much about vehicle value as the last two times I've put the car back (under PCP) the dealer has never asked for service history...
