Car : A4 B5 1.8tqs December 1999
Fault Code via VCDS : 65535 Control unit failure or internal control module keep alive memory (KAM) error or power failure control unit or bad ground contacts, or no faults recorded if MIL not illuminated.
Part No: 8EO 614 111A
This problem occurred in 2011 and I sent the unit to ECU testing.com who reconditioned it and it's worked perfectly since, I'm now wondering if I should have the same done again by them or just get another unit - I would like to find out what the variations mean on the letters at the end of the part numbers which exactly match from various breakers around, some variations of letters are A AB AH and such like, does this make a difference in coding the units or does a replacement have to match the original part number exactly?

Update........ unit has been sent up to ECU Testing and has been tested and is un-repairable ( they repaired it for me in 2011 just before the lifetime warranty came in ! It now has a fault on the CPU internally )
So I'm now on the lookout for an 8EO 614 111 A ABS unit, or an alternative match, this seems to be quite a rare part number as there is every other one available via breakers and e-bay except the one I have - so anyone know the part numbers exactly in full that will match and some contact details, Audi dealership is obviously massively expensive !!

Thanks Aragorn - managed to source one from a breaker with exactly the same part no. which should arrive tomorrow.

I'm needing the exact same haha pretty rare now

They were only fitted to quattro models, between 97 and 2000ish. But seem pretty hard to come across used.

Try AudiSRS and see if anyones breaking an S4. So long as its not a late model with ESP they also use the same part.

Theres a couple on ebay but they're quite dear.

Well, I should have one soon. Would need to check the number but my abs works just fine.

As soon as you're ready to sell it fella give me a shout need one asap
Are you breaking you're one now?

When I spoke to ecu testing on the phone about my old unit after it was un-repairable, they said they use about 60 different suppliers and would source one for me that would be a reconditioned unit upwards of £350 depending on the model of car !
