Hello to everyone.
By way of a quick introduction, I'm Richard and the car is an A4 S line 3.0 quattro tdi Manual on a "58" plate....(first registered November 2008) which I think makes it a B-7? .....
Anyway, It was bought a week ago with 95k on the clock, 2 previous owners, a full history and 12 months mot. It's factory spec, no upgrades, re-mapping, etc, etc but apart from possibly treating it to a stainless exhaust at some point, I doubt I'll be altering much if anything.
I decided on Audi as I was looking for something with build quality, reliability, power and comfort in a single package, plus I like the styling and aren't a big fan of auto boxes. Working as I do for a company delivering mostly brand new vehicles to dealerships throughout the UK, I get a feel for different makes and Audi just seemed to tick most of my boxes.... (Besides, my wife likes the colour -blue- and the shape, so I didn't really have a choice)
After a week and about 400 miles driven, We're more than happy with it. Neither of us are really "speed freaks" but having the ability to cruise at around 70 to 80 without even testing the engine and being able to hold a conversation at normal volume is a big plus. The ride is firm but far from uncomfortable and even when pushing it along winding country roads there's no feeling that the tyres are about to un-stick... I was worried that the weight of that big diesel in the nose would give it terrible understeer but have had no squeaky bum moments so far.
At a rough calculation over the week, without trying to be economical, over a mix of motorway and town / country driving and occasionally booting it, MPG seems to be around 35 to 40 so under normal driving, maybe low 40's would be achievable.... That said, fuel economy isn't a top priority so all's good so far.
Being as I'm a driver, NOT a mechanic, I have no doubt that I'll have plenty of questions relating to the oily bits if problems arise in future but for now, "Thanks for reading and happy motoring to all".
Richard.
