Hi guys. New to the forum. I have a 2007 b7 rs4 I've had it 3 months now and not had a problem. I was driving home the other night stopped at the shop Got back in the car and had a missfire. Got home plugged my rosstech cable in and it has come up with p0087 fuel rail/system pressure to low and was smelling very strongly of fuel at the back of the car exhaust area. No leaks. Would seem to me maybe a dodgy injector Poss stuck open. WAN wondering if any one else has had this problem. Before I go looking at in a little further.

Does it return when you clear it?
What mileage on the car? throw in some BG44 in the tank to clean the injectors, but probably your HPFP is dying, or the LP sensor is busted..

Yeah comes back as soon as you erase it. Cars done 92k. Constant missfire but used nearly 1/2 a tank of fuel doing 7 miles on my way home. so my thoughts were maybe an injector stuck open. Car is parked up at the moment and using my company car so need to get and have a look at it. If it was the hpfp surely that wouldn't make it use so much fuel??

I'm not sure, as I haven't had this problem with a RS4 before, but from what I've read, this could your problem.

"Half a tank of fuel in 7 miles" suggests an actual fuel leak. Has any work been done in the recent past on the fuel lines or fuel filter? The standard VCDS "possible causes" for this fault code all point to items that would restrict petrol feeding through the fuel lines but as you say, none actually suggest a cause that would result in half a tank of petrol being used-up in 7 miles, at the same time.
