Hello i have a 2.0 tdi sport but want it to sound better at the cheapest price possible, I don't want to change the whole exhaust, is there a way I can get a better noise if I just change a specific part of the exhaust... I am based in Essex so if anyone knows any garages around here that specialise in exhausts please tell me, I have heard of someone paying about 100 quid to change a part of the exhaust for it to sound better

Best would be to remove the back box and hollow the cat, an aftermarket stainless steel back box welded to your existing pipe work will free a few more Bhp and help the engine breathe better, however on a diesel the turbo takes a lot of noise from the engine so it won't sound any boy racer'ish just a deeper rumble and you will love the woosh/koo noise when the turbo opens up the VNT !

If you need work done then I am based in N. London, I build custom exhausts and a lot more in 304/316 stainless steel...

You sound like you have come from the Fiesta or Corsa forum. Leave it as it is and spend your Ton on something more useful.

I made a custom system for mine. Cut the particle filter contents out and welded back up then I made backbox delete and I put straight pipe in the center. Got annoyed with the very loud coo noise so refitted the center now it sounds almost standard but abit throaty when accelerate. Stil have my straight through center and I could decat yours as I'am not far from Essex. Pm me if interested

Would it be too loud if you just done a backbox delete leaveing standard cat and middle section?

Tried that.

Ear splittingly loud and a nasty midrange drone.

Really wouldn't recommend that over a good system like BCS could do for you.

It won't make sod all sound with just back box delete. Its a diesel not a s3. I was running a straight pipe amd it wasn't loud atall. It's the center that restricts the noise. If you want dirt cheap just have cat hollowed out and a straight center. Cost sod all. I'm happy to sell you my straight center and do the cat. The only part my system cost anything was the pipe I had made for the backbox delete and the tips

Can I be cheeky and say I have a backbox delete pipe in the classifieds that is suitable? :p

My 1.8t FSI wasn't ear splittingly loud, but it droned like crazy. After I sold the car I found out that the 2.0t FSI fwd has a helmholtz in its rear resonator that literally deletes the drone. Alternatively you can make one. Either route would be much cheaper than the £1200 BCS charge.

Perhaps, but I needed something custom built for the power.

Yup, but that doesn't really help the OP and his standard tdi 140/170 does it :p
