goubo stroker gt35 build nears completion

Goubo, could I see a pic of your boost gauge please?

I like the idea but did you have to put holes in the dash?

Thanks.

Thanks for that mate, appreciate it.

I'm thinking of a mechanical gauge again, don't want it in the vent and my last attempt at a pillar mounted one well, i'll say it didn't look as good as Tufftys!!!

Finally got around to getting the front aligned again after replacing the box at end of april

Image

Tyres have done well have a little bit of tread left but will soon be looking to get new ones.currently I have eagle f1s asymmetric 2
Been happy with them since I've had them but what's other people using on there s3s ?? As I might change was thinking pilot sport 4 or super sport any opinions ???

Got up early on Friday morning 2.30am to take the car to badger5 for a look over got a bite and a cuppa and off I went stopped in at charnock services for some v power
Image

Image

Took a few pics as It looked good in the morning light

Got to badger5 and bill and the crew got busy
Image

Checking things over all seemed good other than the power steering leak...got the oil and filter changed, new turbo heat sheild, new turbo out let hose (that I had messed up the original one),bracket on the catch can re welded as I had broke it too :fearscream:..water meth set to come in as it should as I hadn't set it right when I replaced the boost switch

On to the dyno for once over
Image

Some smoke started coming from the engine bay it got tracked down to the oil return but had to wait for everything to cool down before it could get seen to...so eventually cool and nipped up all seemed good so bill done a few dyno runs and car is doing the same as it was when it left

Got some videos of the car on the dyno but phone never recorded sound was totally gutted but got this
Image

A still from the video wish it recorded the sound as it was crazy good to hear and see

More power, you're a sick man - but I like it!!! I was going to go the same route as yourself but decided I would be too paranoid about things breaking!!

Looking at a B8 S4 this time next year. Some impressive figures from that engine. Proper sleeper

You have a great car man I bet it surprises everyone. Have you had it on the strip?

We always want more once bit by the power bug lol

I've had a few things break had a few sensors break but that happens on standard cars...turbo that was the company's fault it was supplied from and the gearboxes the abuse they take with how hard the car gets driven it's kind of expected to be fair that's why I plan on getting one strengthened to make it a bit more durable

Thanks mate

Yeah it does surprise lots of things on the road Aston Martin virage..911 turbos..all flavours of m3..c63 amg...Leon tte420...various tunes cars Subaru,RS focus mk2 also few big bikes as when in triple figures it's a different ball game as I'm pulling hard and bikes seem to lose there edge when against some big power

No I ain't been to a strip thought about it but scared of breaking things as launching that sort of torque things break

Excellent tires, have had them for 2 years now, 40k kilometres, still passed MOT. Not running any power, but still :) Enjoy!

Yeah great tyres mate I done 8k hard miles and still had some life in them left

Had the week off work so been playing about with car

The water meth stopped working as the the Devils own boost switch became sticky ( had this a few times now on the 3rd switch now) it seems to be when the car is stood for a bit when I'm away at work it sticks..
Anyways got a mityvac mv8500 vac and pressure pump real handy to tool (thanks bill for the heads up on this) put it on the boost switch to see what was going on pumped it up and it never operated to over 30psi when it was set to operate at 14psi even when set to its lowest setting on the wheel still wouldn't operate to over 30psi..So bought a new switch from Devils own swapped it over set it to kick in at 14psi with the pressure pump and all seems fine with the meth set up now

Also had a go at the oil return again took the paper gasket out and went for a metal k04 one opened the bolt holes up to take the m8 bolts on the gasket as the oil return had started slightly dripping again on to the mani and causing a strong smell in and out the car also put lock washers on the oil return bolts in case it's them that's just relaxing a little as its in hard position to get at them to give a real tight nip up.I gave them as much as I could and seems ok for now but ain't gave the car much miles yet as only did this this afternoon

Killer brakes ( guy where I got my calipers) posted a bout my car he asked for some pics :relaxed:
IMG 1290

Next thing for the car will be rear discs and pads and front pads also going to try get the full system pressure bleed too and also a new air filter been trying to get the big jetex cylinder filter but can't as just a bit short on space but gutted as they just look cool.so it will be a cone
IMG 1285

I got über technical to see if it would fit haha shame as it's just that little corner

IMG 1284

So it will be the cone with these dimensions same as the one that's on just over all a bit smaller due to not having the rubber twist end like the one I have just now

Recently been getting a little oil smell coming in the cabin again like before so removed the intake to get some access to the oil return and was able to get a half turn on one of the bolts so hoping that's the cure will find out tomorrow when I'm :racer::racer:

Got home a week early from work and came home to some deliveries :yahoo:rear disc and pads were decent price from mtec brakes and went for the stock pad for the 18z calliper was wanting textar pads as had them on my old brake set up and liked them but was told Pagid and textar are the same pad just different label so ended up with these
IMG 1364
Also got 25 litres of meth too as now I'm using 70/30 mix and have none left other than what's in the car just now and that's not much

I got my new jetex cone filter fitted
IMG 1362

The brakes will need to wait till next time I'm home tho as my mate who helps me out is busy this weekend

Any one got any tips on the eezibleed kit as any would be appreciated as going to give it a go as since fitting the 18z calipers it's only been gravity bleed then little presses on the pedal so keen to try get it all bleed correctly to see if it makes any difference to the pedal

Don't use more than about 15psi in the wheel you connect it too and do a pressure test prior to filling the eezibleed reservoir with fluid as its not unusual for the cap on the brake reservoir to leak... normally just needs a tweak but better a bit of air leaks out than a load of fluid...

Do inner bleed nipples on the 18z's first then outer... remember that as the ABS unit is on the opposite side to the reservoir that you need to bleed from the drivers side first

Thanks dude....any need to cycle the abs at all ?

Shouldn't do... normally only need to do that if you change the ABS unit or have got air into the ABS unit somehow... but bleed the master cylinder too... (last)

The car threw a little wobbler early Saturday evening...got fault code 16514 on the liquid gauge and this was happening on idle

http://s712.photobucket.com/user/GOUBO1/media/FB0B0C0E-D15B-4FCB-B53B-9592919641B4_1.mp4.html

I was wary because the liquid gauge was saying it was going lean so sought some advice from Bill....he said to try a new lambda probe. I managed to source one at a Euro car parts branch that opened on a Sunday. I was there for Euro car parts opening to pick it up and get back to the car and get it fitted . I got it bolted on and all seemed fine. I took it for a test drive and all was good again"

Well took the car away with me to work on Monday just north of inverness as its been a while since I've did that and some nice roads up this. When on the way up met up with a work mate so done the usual thing and had a one or two rips lol.I like this video as you can hear the turbo sucking

http://s712.photobucket.com/user/GOUBO1/media/AE8A007A-8CD6-44C0-AA37-979579A246F8.mp4.html

Got a decent return on fuel too brimmed the tank at the shell in auchterarder and even with few rips with my mate i had only used just over 1/4 of a tank when passing dingwall i did have the cruise control on at only 55 most of the way tho but still was happy with it

Friday night i took the car for a little drive and when coming on to boost it was like misfiring checked for codes on liquid gauge came up 17861
a code for the exhaust gas temperature sensor so cruised back the b&b to investigate. It turns out when i was checking and replacing the lambda sensor a few weeks ago i must not have fully clipped the egt sensor plug back in correctly and it worked its way out but once plugged back in all was back in order again :grinning:

Saturday is a half day finish and with the weather being dry and nice and clear thought id take the car out for a play over the Struie hill. The B9176 was the road and it was a great road to drive with some nice twisty bits had some fun but kept it sensible. Also got a few pics of the car at the view point on the Struie hill

Those front calipers look HUUUUGGGEEEE!!! :)

I'm guessing it's a minimum 19" wheel for those bad boys Goubo?
