My drivers heated seat isn't working, plugged it in and it comes up saying short circuit, when you click on the heated seat button, it turns on for around 10 seconds and then switches back off again.

I was flicking through eBay to see if I could find a repelecent seat to get the heated seat working again as it's starting to get cold in the morning !! Whilst I was flicking through I seen that someone was selling the back rest heating element. Is it easy to replace ? Can the bottom element on the seat be easily replaced as well ?

It takes a fair while to strip the seat & replace elements tbh, you really need to confirm its these at fault before swapping them over.

How can I check whether it is the elements or not ?

The only 100% way is visual & meter, however, continuity with a meter on the visible wiring should be good enough, but it could also be a connector loose or come unplugged, needs properly diagnosing tbh before it becomes expensive.

Has there been any success with the heated seat element replacement? I have the same problem in 2010 A4 allroad - VCDS shows open circuit - I'm planning to get the seat out in the next week or two to strip it down & investigate - the seat back element is available on ebay. Can any one help me with the wiring diagram - ie serial or parallel for seat bottom & seat back element - and the pins on the seat connections please. I've tried plugging & unplugging connector - can't remember if looked with multi-meter.
Wiltshire is getting cold!
