Hi all - First post!:salute:

I've just bought an Audi Approved B9 saloon - Mythos Black 2.0 TDI 150PS S-Line with 3,500 miles on the clock. Not much in the way of additional options from what I'm aware other than the flat bottom steering wheel.

I've had the car a week now and love it. But what's the deal with Parking Plus? On the Audi website configurator I took this to be a standard feature but my A4 only seems to have rear acoustic sensors and no visual aids on the MMI. Is there any way this can be added via a software upgrade to the MMI?

Cheers!

Hey, Grats on the new car and first post! so... I checked this out too recently. Just got a new Sport spec, no extras. (so can't comment on S-Line specifically), Parking plus was standard on all models from Manufacture Year 17, so Sept 2016+

I'm on mobile so don't have it handy but I think there's a post somewhere containing the brochure for each MY iteration, you could check that for the standard S-Line features.

What year is yours anyways?

Yeah it was an optional extra on MY16 cars but became standard on MY17. Assume yours is an ex-demo with that mileage, it has to be an MY16.

Cheers gents.. It was registered March 2016 so I take it that it is a MY16, hadn't cottoned on to that possibility. It's an ex Audi management car I was told by the dealership.

I suppose then that it's not possible to upgrade the MMI to include graphics for the rear sensors only then - as Parking Plus is front & rear.

I wouldn't be too fussed other than the fact that I upgraded from a 3 door Corsa so it's a bit of a different beast to park!

Parking system plus shows were objects are and the distance from them on the MMI. If by visual aids you mean a live picture, then the reversing camera was an additional extra.

I think @jezcpp means 'optical parking' which is Audi's term for it. Instead of simply beeping to warn how close you are to an object, the MMI shows a radar image for which part of the car is closing in on the object.

I am not sure if it's something you can have coded, or if it requires different sensors...

Actually, I think @jezcpp is talking about the new standard fit Parking Plus shown in the configurator which comes up with the graphical picture of the car & "indicators" round the front and back that visually show where obstructions are..

Couldnt find a picture of how it looks in the new A4 but its this idea..

Ill take a picture when I get back to the car tonight

That happens unfortunately, all manufacturers play around with their car's options...

It was added to MY17 along with a £400 price increase, so not really for free.

I've got a MY16, and it would be nice to have the rear sensor image. I had a Skoda Fabia as a rental for a couple of days in between cars that only had rear sensors and the image appeared as above, but only showing the rear ))) bits.

You should be able to activate the OPS (graphical) option using VCDS (or similar tool). I did this on our A1 which had rear sensors only.

Thanks chaps, @Blacklight124 is right in what I'm looking for.

@dts439 - If you can add it with VCDS, would the Audi dealership likely be able to do it for me?

I'm not sure it would be in the dealers interest to. After all if you wanted optical parking they would have wanted you to fork out for the full pack! I think there is a section on this forum where you can find independent people with VCDS to code it for you

Unlikely that a dealer would do this for you using their VAS tool but you can ask I guess. Easiest would be to find someone (probably in the US as that's where the threads seem to be) who has coded it successfully and then get someone with VCDS who can code it for you.

Note on our A1 the optical view was only codable with a park module from later MYs (so I had to buy one off eBay as ours was a very early car), but I would expect all the B9 A4s to have a compatible module for this.

And I think you will find that is exactly what I was describing!! I knew what he was talking about!

It can definitely by added by Audi. My friend bought a b9 avant from stock from Lincoln Audi. He kicked up a stink because his car was an unregistered my16 that had been sitting at another dealership.

They had to send it to Milton Keynes for some reason, but he has the graphics and the sensors look identical to my my17.

So did they also add the front sensors to bring it up to MY17 specIMG 1707 ?

One possible reason why they do not enable the Graphical display on rear only cars is because it shows the front as failed (this is what our A1 shows)

Thanks for the information - I'm going to call Audi Milton Keynes a call next week and see what they say in the first instance.

Does anyone happen to have a photo of the what the B9 graphical display looks like?

Hi reviving an old thread did the OP and others managed to enable visual aid via VCDS? Mine only has the rear parking aid along with rear camera.

Hello everyone, I just bought the same Аudi А4 2016 8w b9 with factory rear parking sensors and beep only, no visual display for park assists on the MMI. Has anyone managed to make a graphic display of the MMI? Please help. Thank you very much.
