Facelift retrofits to pre-facelift

I'm going buy the red caliper anti rattle springs, look smart.
I think we should try a group buy for the rear lights so we can go dynamic indicators, see how many folk are interested.

You will need to order them from Audi, just need a Reg from a facelift car and they will order them, they are called anti rattle clips with s3 logo if you are speaking to the Audi parts dept, I will post up part numbers and pics when I get them anyway :)

I've ordered a facelift rear bumper to my p/f/l a3. We'll see if it would fit or not :)

WoW - looking forward to the pics !!

I might be, think @DJAlix was looking into this some time back.

Ordered a set of red caliper plates today, same part number as the black ones, just need to stipulate that it's the red ones from the fl that you want £70 for the pair

After all the discussion with Audi parts dept, they arrive in today, got a call to say they opened the packs up and they are black :(

Any idea yet if the Facelift Black Edition grill will fit a PFL?

@RedS3Reilly, If you change the bumper, you'll need the lights. I haven't measured the dimensions of the lights to know for certain that they will mate up with the PFL front wings, they might do.

Will defo need lights if you're changing the bumper as the new ones have that 'sharp' design to them, PFL is more rounded

Yes - they are interchangeable the brakes are the same.

Never seen that colour combo before!

Do they pop off/on easily Rob? Considering popping mine off and scanning it to remake the logo if it's easy enough.

Great thread @Rob2k68, can't believe I've not seen it before!
I actually prefer the red calipers with the black clips though tbh, I think the red clips are a little ott imo

From what I’ve seen yes just prise off evenly with a screwdriver wrapped in a cloth to protect surrounding paint or use a plastic wedge trim removal tool. Looks like dowels/pegs going into a clip that’s in a hole in the caliper casting .....

Thanks mate ;o) It has a new lease of life thanks to the red caliper plates.

Couple of updates :-

Dynamic F/L rear lights are now appearing on some PFL cars. Budget £700 for the lights and £250 if fitting with an adaptor module which is far simpler and takes maybe 1/2 hour to fit. If you are brave then modules are not strictly required but you need to run a wire tap from the body controller to all 4 lamps as the FL lamps have an extra pin. Allow 3-4 hours for this if you know what you’re doing. No VCDS coding required for either method.

Internal switch gear lighting being white on the FL I’ve seen a couple of posts saying that the gear indicator can be difficult to read in bright sunlight. No quick fix to reverse polarity to change colour it appears that all switches are different including steering wheel illumination and heater panel. Quite an expensive mod this one probably why I’ve not seen it done ...... yet.

Quite easy to remove although I don't think they fit as tight after being removed once.

I put some no more nails behind there just as a precaution

They need pried off - i used a flat head screw driver and a microfibre cloth to lean it against the caliper

Pry at each end where the location lugs are then they should just pop off

They are not as thin or brittle as the S4 ones which were a pain in the *** to remove

Just blow out the hole and press the new ones in - I didnt add any glue or anything as later down the line I will more than likely change them again due to fading
