I got my new car about a month ago and was plagued by a persistent rattle coming from under the steering wheel. I took it in on Tuesday to get repaired and received the car back yesterday. All good with that rattle but now there are two less persistent, slightly quieter, rattles still in the cabin. One seems to be coming from beside the seatbelt mount not far from my right ear.

My question is, should a new car be devoid of all rattles and should I take it in to get these fixed? Or is is something that is just a way of life? In my previous A4 there were rattles in there from new that I just ignored...

Have you sat in the passenger side to confirm if there is a rattle from the n/s seatbelt also, as that would be a quick way to confirm if it's a genuine rattle or just a characteristic you've tuned into now?.

I had the rattle on the seat belt, all I did was drop down one notch on the adjuster and it went away. That was on my last A3 SB Sport. The new car is fine no issues at all concerning rattles.

I'm the same... no rattles or squeaks to report on mine, and I have a highly tuned ear for these things!

The rattle on the right ear side is pretty common place, it's in door the door, also the parcel shelf is also a pretty common one and a few others, l just turn up the music lol instead of the inconvenience of getting these fixed and them stripping down the interior

My car currently in the garage for a squeak coming from the CD player unit, sounds like keys jingling and is driving me mental. My ears pick up on anything and everything. They need it overnight so hoping the problem has been found. Can't be doing with rattles.

Not had a single squeak rattle or roll in mine. Then again we are talking about a best of the best PFL here lol

If it annoys you pursue it if not whack the music up as Jassy says :)

Depends how far you want to take it. My last MINI was in for 3 weeks to get the dashboard padded out and silenced. I had more felt pads in that cabin than Woolworths. Only got a slight creak in this one from Seatbelt area when cornering but apart from that it's pretty quiet.

Rattles can be a right pain, and can be even more of a pain trying to find out where they come from. Agree partly about asking whether they can be heard from the passenger seat, but what if the rattle comes from the passenger seat and is only heard when nobody is sitting there!??

Agree with @jassyo06 ...I don't like the idea of them pulling things apart to find out where the rattle is coming from. I think you do need a good ear to work out where exactly they are originating from.

Why didn't I thin of that? That has solved the one next to my ear! The last one seems to be coming from around the glovebox area but it is also quite quiet. I still want to get rid of it though ;-)
