Not many 8l's.

I still have mine. Not selling mine ever. I want it perfect one day and if that takes me 30 years then so be it!

Nice to see our cars becoming more appreciated.

Hi Jojo , Yes, I've seen, I knew of 2 TSN owners after me, Then at some point JoeS3 here had it, someone owned it twice? and now user "Nasher" has recently popped up with it here on ASN.

Not sure where my black one went. I saw it up for sale a few years back on Yellow Porsche Calipers, ( I sold it with big reds) a recent search for its old plate drew a blank. So it's either on a private plate, or scrapped/been written off.
JoeS3 re purchased it, then sold it again for a B5 S4.

Nice to see my old flame being looked after! Lol

It's a real shame my own original S3 is battered in my garage! Really unsure what to do with it? Been way too busy with personal life to actually do anything about it to be honest.

MOT is due on my white one next month aswell, so I need to fix a few issues on that one aswell!

Get your mrs to call car sos and give them some sob story, maybe they'll come round and get it restored for you. :)

@jojo, I missed that one, but i did see an episode the other day with the RS1600i, that was pretty good, think it was an old episode.

Which Paul are you? lol

You'll find that internet forums are all watered down now, because there's so many different groups about. Winding back to the days you are speaking of, this WAS the forum for info and tech for 8L S3's, to a certain point, it still is.... the answers are there, you just need to find them!

Also, people's life style has changed, and we require answers on the button, instead of waiting patiently like we did 10 years ago. So Facebook groups are the current thing! Ask questions at any time of the day or night, and in most cases, get a response within 5 minutes on your mobile device! Not to mention the freedom of being able to swear/be a ****, without the internet police having a poke! :busted cop:

I still think 8L's are the modern day equivalent of the mk1 Golf, it will never be the same legendary status of course, but it will be a classic in future.

The tricky thing with a million answers a minute on FB is that about 2 are correct and 1 is useful.

My old 8L has migrated down to cornwall, still being driven hard on a regular basis by its new owner. he took it around the cornwall cannonball a few weeks back. Would have stripped it and tracked it if i had somewhere to store it off road, i'll be getting another one at some point.

Hopefully they will become an iconic first version, such as the mk1 GTI and the Escort RS Turbo have become nowadays.

As shaun said..... theres a few up here in cumbria! I was in debate selling mine as in a year I've only done 3k! have a daily driver too. But since there becoming rarer and starting price for a clean one is around the £3k+ mark and plus even though the 8P's look nice they don't look different from a standard s line model......... least the 8L's have that stance/presence which is an S3

Can anyone recommend a Facebook group. I've never read one and I'm curious. I'm enjoying getting back into reading about Audis again.

My car probably won't ever be worth anything, but I'm keeping it anyway :)

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, there's a good question!

There are THOUSANDS of them. Some more active than others!

Such is the frequency of groups these days, that the quality has sadly suffered, and they are all less busy than they once were, and the content of a slightly lower level.

Off the top of my head:

Club GTI

VAG Tuning.net

VAG Talk (gone massively down hill)

A3/S3 owners group.

S3(8L owners chat

Non audi specific:

Track Time is a fairly recent start up, and seems fairly good.

Glad to hear you're keeping the car Kev, if you're ever back in the UK it'd be great to catch up some time and see what's changed in the last 7 years since you left!

Im on

S3 Owners (8L) Chat, Advice and parts wanted/for sale

Mainly for the parts though got a set of unused Bosche 550cc with clips for 80 quid and a Leather armrest and cupholder insert for cheap too :)

Seller was Dave Mackie he has tons of bits. not sure if hes on here

Mine will be 9 years of ownership in a few months, now on 176000miles too, dont know if its me getting old or what but I miss the comforts of a MFSW, built in nav and dab etc, my missus has all of this on her Seat Leon, with the folding mirrors and all that jazz too and makes me think, is it time to move onto something newer.

I'm not moving on any time soon, but when I do, it will probably be an A5 3.0 tdi Quattro, good grunt and comfortable, mainly because I am old. :)

I've had mine for 12.5 years, starting to show her age (will be 16 in January). Planning to keep for a few more years until 8V RS3's are sensible money.... I was very impressed with the RS3 stand at ADI. Even the Noggy 8V was there.

All the creature comforts is what put me on to the b8 s4, a lot of car for the money if you find a well optioned one. I like gadgets...

Thanks for the recommendations on groups. I'm not expecting much, just curious to have a poke around.

Nick, I will definitely give you a shout next time I'm over.

Already went down the 3.0TDI route, it's quick and comfy as you say, but no S3 in terms of handling. But hey, I'm getting on a bit myself! Lol
