Electric Folding Mirrors Fitted!

Does this mean I'm going to have to take the car in for that on top of the £220 bill for the motor!? Shouldn't it come for a rhd car over here?!

Hi sorry to dig up am old post.

Is there any way of testing whether you mirror is a folding mirror? Like putting a voltage into one on the passenger on the plug or something? I can't figure out whether mine are folding ones...I can't physically fold them in.

Also I have modules with code 830 959 802k...are these compatible with folding mirrors?

I have founf this on the TT forum ...

6-pin connector (exterior mirrors)

1 - Mirror status position X (only with seat memory fitted)

2 - Mirror terminal 31, potentiometer (only with seat memory fitted)

3 - Mirror supply, potentiometer (only with seat memory fitted)

4 - Mirror adjustment motor Y-direction

5 - Mirror adjustment motor X/Y-direction

6- Vacant

7 - Mirror heating

8 - Mirror dip output signal 1 (EC mirror +)

9 - Mirror status position Y (only with seat memory fitted)

10- Vacant

11 - Mirror terminal 31

12 - Mirror adjustment motor X-direction

13- Vacant

14 - Mirror folding motor -

15 - Mirror folding motor +

16 - Mirror dip output signal 2 (EC mirror -)

If i put 12v into terminal 15 mirror folding motor + and earth terminal 14 mirror folding motor - then surely it would make it fold if the mirror was an electric folding mirror?

I just want to find out if they are even the folding mirrors before i start looking into wiring up the electrics to make them fold.

K modules are non folding & thus your mirrors won't be folding as Audi do not fit non folding modules with folding mirrors.

Sorry should have explained I have bought a pair of mirrors to fit to my s3 as mine has old 8l ones on (replacing stolen ones). And the modules are the original ones that came with the car 2009 s3.

I'm just trying to determine whether the ones I have are folding mirrors or not.

I can't physically push them in to fold which makes me think they are. Was just wondering if the list I have put above with the pin numbers is correct for the s3 8p mirrors I have. And if so whether putting 12v into terminal 15 and earthing 14 would make them fold (if they are folding mirrors).

Or is there anything I can look for inside the mirror that will let me know as I don't really know what I'm looking for.

If the 16 pin connector has 2 wires, 1 pink & 1 blue, then they're folding.

Brilliant thanks alot mate. I will look out for the wires when I get home.

As I don't have the right modules. I have seen somewhere on here that people have bypassed the modules all together to achieve the mirrors folding when looking and unlocking the car aswell as the switch. Do you have any idea how this is done or could point me in the right direction of a guide of some sort?

Hello,

Again Sorry to bring up an old post. I have just called an Audi dealer to confirm the compatible part numbers for a window regulator motor which supports power folding mirrors on a 2005 Audi A3 sportback. They confirmed 8P0959801G (drivers side) and 8P0959802G (Passengers side). Can anyone confirm if any of the following parts support folding mirrors:

Drivers Side
8P0959801 E
8P0959801 H

Passengers Side
8P0959802E
8P0959802H

Cheers

Thats incorrect information you're advising, there are other module versions that supported folding before G for cars up to certain points in 08, then it started with a J when Audi changed wiring in the doors to suit.

Only the modules ending in G supports folding mirrors for A3s up to 2008

Ash187 and NHN you guys are legends! thanks for the quick replies.

I have already have the folding mirrors fitted and coded, and fitted the actual switch installed on the interior door. All things being equal, once I have the G modules regulators fitted, will my folding mirrors now work?

Yes, as long as all other parts are in place correctly.

Hi guys
Really nice job! However I am a bit confused with the correct module (M P K).
My A3 is the 2009 sb facelift edition (05/2009). It has the K module.. I managed to track from etka.cc that K is replaced by M. So, i found M but will it work for foldable mirrors?
Last but not least, does anyone in the forum have instructions for the wiring part (from the switch to the mirror) since i bought the specified switch.

Thanks in advance!!
Nikolaos

Apologies for bumping the thread. Just to confirm, If I was to replace the K (07) window motor with P, will they support folding?

Thanks

Not sure if you need more things if you fit modules ending in P into a 2007 car but i know they defo work in cars from 2009 to 2012 as i have Auto folding on my 2010 S3 which fold in on key fob and fold out once key it in igition , but my drivers module P was flashed ( i think its the module they flash other than ECU but could be wrong )

So the P module will support folding, but....

The door side switches for tow & ultrasonics were moved to a single button on the P & Q modules, so as you have 2 you may find they don't work properly or at all.

You can't just fit the module, you have to change the whole door mirror units for ones that are folding.

The auto folding is either a guided function using vcp or manual hex editing & it is the door module that is edited.

I'm not sure what you mean by tow & ultrasonics, but I had installed this door switch which I believe has folding mirror option, is this sufficient or needs upgrading?
At the moment I'm looking for facelift power folding mirrors with indicators on ebay, but don't know if there are any difference in part nos.

Thanks

Look at the side of your driver's door, you'll find 2 buttons.

Alright I get what you mean now, would the power folding still work with the 2 buttons? I'm not too fussed about replacing that part just yet. Cheers

Try Danny Hill on Facebook ( wigan vag Parts) he usually has folding mirrors but expect to pay a good bit for them

I found some pin define between 8P0959801G and P. P module will allows auto folding by remote key. P module can sacn +0004096 option in VCDS.i think i change some wires pin define will fit new P version. G is 2007 and P is around 2010~2012. is it correct?
