Hi all,

I've just got my A4 MY03 TDI 2.5 TDI serviced and noticed that they reset the service indicator (as I would expect) however it has dashes i.e ---- where it would display the days and mileage to next service.

Is this right? I'm requested a long life service....

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it was done yesterday - I drove it for about 13 miles home and it was still displaying '---'.

I guess I need to have more faith in the garage - it could of been due to the fact I was recovering over the bill!

It does this for about 50 miles or so.. can't remember exactly.. In my case it took a week before it decided how many miles an days until next service...

Mine lasted till I had done 400 miles - don't worry, just drive and check it when you have put a few hundred miles on - it is perfectly normal.

Thanks all for the replies - I am approx 300 miles since the service so will continue to monitor.

So... the service data is now on the display ... but its indictoring 8,900 miles to the next service which is odd as I was under the impression that my TDI was on a longlife service routine...

I guess I'm going to have to take the car back to the garage....

Does it tell you how many days? It may be a calculation thing. Long life service is never more than 2 years or 20k miles. What it is telling you is that at your current mileage rate, you will only cover 8900 miles in the next 24 months. It will constantly recalculate. If you now suddenly do a 1000 mile journey and then press the button, the miles will probably only have dropped by about 200.

It displays 369 days and approx 8,900 miles... when it was serviced and purchased at Fontain it initially had 20,000 miles and maybe 600 days!

Hi,

What it appears is the garage has just done the standard service light reset

Step 1: Turn off engine
Step 2: Turn on ignition while holding button with the wrench
"SERVICE!" will pop up on the display
Step 3: Press the button that clears out the trip counter and the display should be cleared.

Simple as that!

For the long life theres a different procdure via VAG-COM..

if you know its been done on long life using long life parts etc.. i would wait till it gets to about 1000k before service and reset it again as per above....

however that upto you.

Cheers

Those audi techs always have to do things the hard way, us mere mortals would just hold the button with one of our fingers:whistle2:
