Hi all,

Could some one please help me in selecting the correct wheel size.
I have a 2015 Audi A3 with Standard 18" alloys on it.

I would like to fit some new 19" Rota wheels to it but would like them to look slightly wider so they look more like S3 wheels from the rear.
Does anyone know if 19" S3 rota wheels will fit and if so what size do I need. I get a little mixed up with the 8.0j or 8.5j also the offset that is needed.

Kind regards
Silent

Yes the wheels will fit. I have just fitted some RS3 rotors to mine and they fit perfect. They are 4 x 8J 19" ET49 235/35/19 tyres. RS3 were also available with 255 tyres on the front, these also fit but glad i didn't go for them as i was later advised i would have needed laser wheel alignment

You should get one anyway. £ for £ a good alignment is by far the best performance update you can buy. I get both my cars done every 12 months, and new cars checked after 2 or 3 thousand miles. Settings creep over time, and resetting to optimum has a huge effect.

Wondered about this. Is there anything i should look for when booking a place ie is there better machines at specialist garages or is it just a matter of all being the same?

I had ATS do this on my previous A3 quattro and to be honest mate they did an absolute sh*t job...Just make sure you go to a place that's had a lot of good reviews...your local internet searches usually list reviews of businesses..

Exactly. Specialists are better than kwikfit etc. In your neck of the woods I know of only one place, but he's really highly regarded.
Paul Roddison in Sheffield.
His specialty is MX5's but he has the gear and the know how to do any car. http://www.mx5-racing.co.uk/

LoL I'll try....

If you're looking for OEM 19" wheels including RS3 rotors look for 19x8J ET49. Without knowing the exact wheel design and size on your car it's hard to be definitive (can you post a pic?) but I'd expect them to poke (be closer to the bodywork) out an extra 10mm or thereabouts.

They are the optional RS3 alloys that are wider at the front - remember the RS3 has a wider body and flared arches. I'd stay clear of the 255 width tyres that are fitted to 8.5J wheels and stick to 235 on 8J all round personally.

Just not sure what wheel size the OP has now but stands a very good chance of being 18x7.5J ET51.

Rob2k68, you are correct the ones o have on are 18x7.5j ET51
But I would like to fit the newer Rota II 19" wheels, someone mentioned that I should go for the 19x8j ET49 with 235 tyres all round and they should fit. I like the look that they would look slightly wider from the back been 8j and ET49

Yes they will fit and look smart !

Have done the very same upgrade on mine from 18x7.5J ET51 to 19x8J ET49 they will poke out (better fill) towards the arches by an extra 8.3mm (wheels only) or 10-12mm allowing for the wider tyres.

I have been told that s3 Wheels come in the following size, x2 8,5J x 19 ET 53 and x2 8J x 19 ET 49
The 8JX19 ET49 With 235x35x19 are fine for the A3 Sportback 2015, I would like to know can you fit 235x35x19 to the 8.5J X 19 ET 53 and will these fit ok without issues on the Audi A3 Sportback 2015

Thanks to all
Bob

Hello Bob, the 8.5J version of the 19" rotor that comes with 255 tyres is optional on the RS3 not the S3 and comes on the front only - rears are 235s on 8J.

I would imagine the 235s would fit the 8.5J rim but there would be some stretch. Personally I'd stick to 235s on 8J all round.

Hi Rob thanks for coming back to me so quickly. A german company can supply me with x4 wheels but they are x2 at 8.5j 19 et53 and x2 at 8j 19 et49, I just don't want to make a big mistake and they will not fit so looking for best options for these wheels and what tyres as they have said that the 8.5j wheels will come fitted with 255 tyres and so unsure if they will still fir on my car.

If you get those wheels and fit 235/35x19 (assuming you like the slight stretch) the inch wider alloy with 2mm extra offset will sit 14.7mm closer to the suspension strut (19x8J ET49 is 4.3mm for comparison) and give 10.7mm more poke to the arches. I don't know for sure but due to the offset I'd imagine you'll have issues with clearance to suspension at lock - an ET of 46mm would be better suited to the 8.5" wheel.

Rob, I think you have cleared this up for me,
x4 19x8 ET49 with Tyres of 235/35/19 all round.

Back to the search again for these wheels, pity about the 8.5 as I had a good price marked on them, but if there no good there's no point going down that path.

Cheers for all your help and a clear understanding on what is needed :)

Exactly, that size is what id suggest and what I have. That's an RS3 wheel but is the exact same size as the 19" S3 wheel.

Rob just a quick one, in your opinion, what would you go for seeing your an expert in these matters :)
Dark grey black ish, or the more lighter Grey on a white car body, also please note I am not boy racer I am more looking for the more cosmetic look of the car. I have a chance of both but not sure if the very dark grey "More black ish" will be a little too much considering my front grill is the s3 Grey looking grill and so thinking on the lighter grey wheels to match.

Cheers
Bob

Expert LoL :friends:

Colour choice is very personal mate, have a look in this thread :-

http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/show-us-glacier-white.261931/

I think as you say a lighter or anthracite grey to contrast with the grille would look smart.
