Hi,

Anyone else out there suffered with this one? It's been like it since day one, tried cleaning them, windscreen etc but to no avail? Looks like a new set then?

Cheers,

Rad

Mine use to do this and a lot of other guys will say the same.
Would I be correct in saying that if you put them on intermediate they don't judder but if you just give them a quick flick they do it???
I use Sonax Window cleaner and mine also has a coating of CarPro Reload. Solved my juddering. Although, having said that it's coming back every now and then. Time for another clean and coating.

I have the same issue from day 1. Will be dropping my car at dealership for the notorious squeaky brakes. Will get them to change out the wipers.

Changing your wipers won't fix the problem. Scrub your windscreen and then apply a coating of RainX or an other tried and tested screen coating. As I said, mine did do it and no longer does after coating the screen.

Surey it's a design problem then? The wife has an a3 and that doesn't do it and has exactly the same setup?

Personally I think it's to do with the speed of the wipers. If you flick to wipe once the wipers fly out of the starting blocks so to speak. On a intermittent setting they kick off slower. I'm sure someone tried to get their dealer to have a look and they said there was nowt wrong with them. Mines don't judder as long as I keep the window clean and coated.

I use Poorboy's Spray and Gloss over EVERYTHING (Hi Scott) including bodywork, glass, window rubbers, and windscreen wiper rubbers (Radman) and NO worries; spray on and wipe/buff off. Just sayin' :yahoo:

Tried it on the Avtar, Scott, but just got a slap! for my efforts...

Let us know what they say mate. I'd be interested. I shouldn't have to coat the rubbers and buff the windscreen to prevent judder.

Drivers side only afaik. Will get mine looked at next service.

deja vu, Darren, deja ****** vu...

Hope you're well... :salute:

He he John - some things never change although I do know a man who offers the best possible fixes, amongst many.

This one is for keeps and to be fair it's not as bad as the last....if Audi don't offer anything specific like new pads, shims or a new system like last one and the squeal returns then it will be those new ones you have for me next.

The rear discs also have an excellent resolve - POR15 clear as you know - but almost £50k on a new car shouldn't have 'rust' in my opinion when the RS7's don't ;-)

I hope you are well and still living the dream!

New set of wipers and a quick going-over with Autoglym glass polish should sort it.

Hey Darren :hi:

POR15 is certainly very good and I still use it on others, mine now are A1 and remain so. But rather than POR15 the rear discs I'd go MTEC and get the drilled items to match the front; and no, it'll not affect warranty. Same with the brake pads, just fit Redstuff front (with the OEM disc) and rear for road use; and again, it'll not affect warranty.

The brake discs (irrespective of pads) are NOT suited to continuous track use, period; that said, the RS3 is not a 'track' car; so for me, anyone needing a 'track' car should go get one: the RS3 is a fabulous road car and I'mm 100% content with my 8P RS3.

One mega and amazing recent improvement is a Motorsport 034 rear anti-roll bar; you 'do' need to try one and sell on if you don't like, but you won't, and that was my logic. Fitted two now (one to BLUEY and one to another's) and the transformation of front-end grip/bite is astonishing, and I could easily argue that it improves 'rid' over sharply irregular surfaces, too.

But back to and I'm amazed at some of the poor quality of certain Audi parts irrespective of car and irrespective of price but many years on I'm over it and sorting it myself. Purchased a 3-year old Audi A1 twin-charge recently - with 12-months Audi warranty - without even seeing it and knowing that the brakes, tyres, and wheels would be refurbished in the first weeks of ownership; and I'd treat any NEW car from Audi exactly the same; after all, it's just a car and the salesman is there just to glorify that particular Audi you have your heart set upon; and don't we know it.

Audi buyer beware but then go and ENJOY!
:racer: :yahoo: :superman:

Jeeze, feeling better now; need to go have a lie down... :friends:

Hmmm, not on our A1 it didn't, in fact the reverse was true; old wipers and NO vibration but NEW wipers and (mega light wet) vibration.

However, a coat of Poorboy's Spray and Gloss on the windscreen and a wipe of the same on the windscreen wiper blade sorted it; and that's why I'm confident of posting here that the stuff is worth a try; just sayin... :readit:

BIG issue with AUDI is that UNLESS Audi GmbH authorises a 'fix' then the dealer won't do it: had the same issue on our STICKING A1 window/window rubber; a common issue that the GmbH 'fix' just doesn't. But a quick wipe over the rubber with Carnauba wax does: you try telling 'em.... :sadlike:

Windscreen wiper vibration: Just a thought here guys; at home I use a product called "Squeegee Off" to clean my house windows both inside and out and as I was undertaking the said duty yesterday I thought of you guys; I know, sad isn't it; however, this stuff dramatically improves the use of a squeegee rubber blade when cleaning the windows and leaves a streak-free finish. Now I do have a teaspoon full of this stuff added to both my RS3 and TT (haven't got around to adding it to the A1 yet but will be doing so later this afternoon) and have had for some time and neither suffer windscreen wiper vibration issues and I do have a mega clean non-smeared windscreen.

Worth a try if the Audi dealer can't resolve the issue :superman:

^^ Sounds good although the nozzles for the spray are all over the place and rarely hit the windscreen! More chance of hitting a passing cyclist in the eye ;)

You're 100% RIGHT, Radman so go tell 'em. And then try an alternative, any alternative, so as not to prevent your enjoyment of a fantastic motor car :hi:

Replaced my drivers side with a Bosch Aero Twin blade from Halfords and it appears to have cured the problem.

I noticed that the fitment that holds the blade in the wiper arm was fairly sloppy on the Audi OEM part - maybe it allowed too much lateral movement of the blade which causes it to judder about. The Bosch part was a good snug fit.

Nicee one mate, I'll give that a go. Sprayed the windscreen and wiper with spray wax which has worked quite wel but not wanting to do that all of the time.

It may last longer than you think, Radman, longer than an Audi dealer fix anyway.

Did exactly the same thing and now I'm judder free...at last

So many owners with this problem. The OEM wiper must have a quality issue either with the tolerance of the connector that fits the blade to the wiper arm, or maybe the rubber compound is it bit too hard that the wiper blade is made from?

Anyway, it's nice not having your wipers juddering and jumping about. I have kept the receipt and the old blade and will be handing it to my dealer when I next pop in to see them.

update:
I followed the recommendations made here to polish the windscreen. I used carpro ceriglass to clean and polish the windscreen. The juddering is now gone! so far so good, hopefully it holds up and doesn't require a polish ever so often.
thanks for the advise. much appreciate.

Did the same last week with our A1; the original OEM Audi wipers were vibrating and even after a screen clean were still vibrating; replaced with NEW OEM Audi wipers and little if any difference, still vibrating; changed to Bosch Aero and 100% perfect straight out of the box.
