No RS3 orders being taken

Isn't even got type approval yet, (nor does the Q5), so there's no chance of ordering it soon. The TTRS was held up with type approval issues IIRC

There is no denying that dash looks mega cool with the central RS3 rev counter :sunglasses:

The S5 does look a VERY nice car ... but it will be a totally different car: more comfortable, MUCH quieter, more a cruiser, great luxury etc.
The RS3 beats it hands down though if you are looking for awesome soundtrack, savage power, sportier look, more practicality, 5 useable seats and front doors you don't have to squeeze out of in tight car parks :)

I'm sure a sportback will be released in the UK at some point as I really don't want a saloon - its just not my look - so also very pleased I got my sportback when I did too and that will give me plenty more driving enjoyment till they release an FL sportback in 2018

18 months away.....Radman man up....its coming and available to order in April 17....and you are havin a dig....coincidentally
Audi UK have apparently said available to market towards the end of 2017. Not having a dig just relaying what I have heard. So, please don't judge me.

I bet 90% people putting their name down for the saloon wished they had got the SB when they had the chance.
The views and opinions of people on this forum are proof of that.
RS3 SB is an iconic car, as is the S3 SB. Only one RS3 in my eyes.
Saloon looks nice, just something about it not right IMHO. Expensive too, for what you get.
So glad I got mine when I did...

That's right because the current SB was a total sell out and there aren't unregistered versions still at dealers that the 90% of people ordering the saloon can't now pick up with substantial discount.
And those 90% will also yearn to have the older interior, and likely not quite as sharp handling and engine.
Okay then.........

I'll take your bet. £50 to a charity of your choice if you can poll the new RS3 Saloon owners and 90% of your poll wish they had ordered a RS3 Sportback.

As stated by Craig, I had the SB, it was great. This will be a better car however, the games moves on and Audi would not release an inferior product to what was out previously.

I do feel let down with the pics however I was the same when SB pics were first released ( as were most on here) but seeing it in the flesh changed my mind. Just wish Audi would take out a leaf out of BMWs book in regards to wheels. I hate the flat surface on these, a bit of concave on the wheels and a bit more flaring of the arches would have it looking better. As Radman said, the saloon needs it more due the SBs stumpy back making it looking more aggressive

Totally agree on the luxury cabin of the S5 mate.
My last gen S5 had a great cabin, even for an ageing car, but the RS3 interior did not feel a step down, just a step sideways on that front - both good but in slightly different ways.
The new S5 cabin is brand new and ultra modern and yeah looks mega !
But like I say, the S5 old and new is a BIG car, bigger than I anticipated but there was a lot of wasted space .. and I wouldn't want an even bigger 5 door S5 lol :)
3 series sportback is "just right" size & proportions.
If you want a grand tourer then S5 will tick loads of boxes of that I am sure.
If space was no object I would love an RS7 :sunglasses: there is just something about that car which looks cool and menacing :sunglasses:

Think about what you have just posted...A year from now...the TTRS....was introduced 5 months ago..via the normal press release and will soon be available to order,so your saying its going to take a year for Audi to release the Saloon
In the Uk possibly I don't know. All we know at the minute is its available in US etc Spring onwards?

Bang on point there mate. There will be a premium to be paid to get the car looking anything decent away from the base spec, alloys, virtual etc etc. Also, the thing that is concerning is that we are talking about a car here that probably won't be on people's drives until at least mid 2018??? By that time a SB could be revealed and by which time I might have a look. But I'd have been driving mine for a good couple of years by then. This thread really doesn't need any more saloon talk as its 18 months away at least.
Also, although folks won't admit it, the saloon is their second choice due to missing out on the original SB 8V. That's a lot of money to spend on your 2nd choice.
I'm not having a dig, I really want people to experience what most of us do each day, but I do feel some people have missed the boat by dithering about purchasing some of the stock SB's that were floating about.
The A3 must be due a new model in/around 2018 though (8V to next one), can't see a current shape SB appearing myself :innocent:

I can confirm, from an Audi dealer an hour ago (I've seen the brief) that market introduction is "Late 2017". So the earlier post, was correct!

Too long for me, used market it is.

My deposit is down, I've told my dealer to keep his eyes out for a Racing Blue Mica car so I can snap one up.

What concerns me is what "Market Introduction" means. If I could go and order one next week and wait for delivery until summer 17, I'd be remotely happy. But what if the order books don't open until late 17? It will be 2018, last few months of the 8V which makes sense.. no FL for me!!

No mate. That's silly that is. I'm not entering into a bet like that. Plus I wouldn't want to take £50 off you when you might need it.
You're talking about 2 different things here. The classic SB, against the new sedan. That sedan doesn't look 100% if you ask me.
It's too expensive too IMO. I think the SB at 40k was the one. 50k is serious money. And all these updates mean nothing if the package isn't right.
I hear your criticism of the RS3. But I wonder why you spend so much time here, on this forum! Are you a secret green eyed monster....

It wasnt for you it was to go to a charity, and I have no problem whatsoever giving charitable donations.
I think you're actually concerned that you've perhaps over exaggerated your 90% claim, probably by around 90%.

How much is the new saloon? Haven't seen that info.

No jealousy whatsoever, I'm just interested in cars and what's coming next. In fact I'm getting a proper drivers RS tomorrow.
Onwards and upwards.

With regards what's coming next for Audi, I think the best package is the new S5.
Will look into a Sportback S5 for the wife, to replace her current one.

TT going indeed.

Heading back to my spiritual home - Renaultsport.
Getting one of the last of the current Megane shape Cup-S.
Stupidly went into the local dealership last weekend and they had two in with all the worthwhile options stacked on and a whopping discount to boot, so a week of further negotiation and picking it up tomorrow.

Really looking forward to it, very much my kind of car.
Its been 4 interesting years with 6 Audi's, but other than the RS5, I didn't really gel.

Still got the wife's S5, so not cutting all ties.
She really likes the look of the new S5 Sportback too, so will likely stick around for a little longer.........
Got to keep you RS3 chaps on guard.

I had the first version of this Megane 4 years ago, so know all about it.
This run-out one is improved, with more power, titanium exhaust, fully adjustable suspension and some pretty special tyres.
Should drive like a dream, as the one I had previously was very good, easily best handling car I've had.

There is nothing of quality on the approved site. All cars I would avoid with a barge pole. Not to mention the doubled interest rates on used!!

Anybody know of any unregistered good spec cars around?
