My B8 build plans ..??..

I remember that Laurent .
The B8 community is bigger/more active here on ASN :)

I did this mod today, very easy if you dont want it switched as it only requires the cutting of 1 wire.
The wire is Yellow/blue on my 2010 & according to the below it is the same on a 14

The wire is located in the wiring shown being held in the below pic

The pump runs at 100% constantly once the the engine is running ,but slows to a much slower rate when the engine & ignition is on.
The pump stops completely about 20 seconds after removing the key from the ignition

I did some logs today & the temps didn't go over 63c & that was @ 6300rpm in 5th gear (on the rollers of course )
The outside temp was 23.5c

Log is here https://www.dropbox.com/s/gbronxl9kw9f1v4/LOG-01-IDE00021_&6.CSV?dl=0

Below are some comparisons of before & after altering the pumps duty cycle to a fixed 100%

Pre pump mod
outside temp 20c https://www.dropbox.com/s/jjkyiscbz3cjr4o/LOG-01-021-121-181-691-1301-1881-4191.CSV?dl=0
3rd gear 2000rpm to 6900 rpm
IAT start temp 31.5c finish temp 42.75
imediatly broke down to 2000rpm staying in 3rd then accelerated again
2000rpm to 6900 rpm
IAT start temp 37.5c finish temp 48.75c

Post pump mod
Outside temp 23.5c
3rd gear 2000rpm to 6900rpm
IAT start temp 38.25c finish temp 37.5c
into 4th gear 4500rpm to 6900rpm
IAT start temp 38.25c finish temp 43.5c

As can be seen in the above information, the pump mod lowers the IATs significantly giving cooler denser air in

I should add that I have put connector on the cut wire in case I wish to put it back

xpower, I'm in the same boat as you with no sports diff. And I've come from a GT86 on coilies which handled pretty well, good amount of feel from the back end when pushing. However was a bit too firm.

The ride comfort in my S4 is amazing! But when pushing the front end washes out alot.

I'm just curious how you find the handling with the rear ARB, front brace and springs?

I'm keen to do similar mods to you but don't want to compromise ride comfort a massive amount.

What springs was it you used as well,

The difference is very pronounced TBH.They are worth every penny.
The back end can be provoked out at will now with good front end turn in.
For the full effect turn off the traction control or the computer spoils the fun :)

Which springs did you settle with in the end?

Eibach are the springs I have. They drop the front 15-20mm & rear 10-15mm.
Having the front lowered more than the rear was was of the reasons I chose them as it helps with understeer etc.

That is a very good point, had the 86 a bit too flat with not enough rake, front was very light.

Sorry to keep interrogating but was it the pro kit you installed? And have you kept shocks the same or gone for bilsteins?

P.s. not even mentioned it yet, your car is badass. Definitely my goto for ideas and inspiration.

Eibach only do a pro kit for the S4 as far as I am aware.
I'm currently on OE shocks without any issues so far,but will prob go to billies at some point.
I don't mind questions mate, that's what the community is about

Thanks for the compliment on the S4.

saw this today - behind me through to tarbuck island then i heard you open the taps onto the link road - sounded lovely!

looked well, really well.

Thanks Tyrer :) I appreciate the kind words.
I remember your car,looked smart :)

Hit the errr dyno for a comparison Of pump mod vs OE pump control.
2nd gear pull through 4th

The pump mod (100% duty cycle) + stacked heat exchanger lowered IAT's by a further 2*C compared to stacked heat exchanger with ECU controlled pump

I made a little graph to illustrate the difference :)

Pump mod vs oe pump

Adjusted the front splitter today as it was bugging me how it was hanging at each end(I think it ended up like this after I had to change the bumper)

Porsche Macan brake cooling ducts & clips arrived this morning :)

IMG 20160930 094752

Don't fit them before you have cut them down. If you fit the clips they are a real pain to get undone without breaking them. The inner end of the ducts need to be trimmed as it fouls on the ARB and is a little too long. On the Macan this is not an issue as the track is wider and the vechicle is higher off the ground. There is a thread on the net somewhere with some before and after pictures, I can't find it at the moment.

As I was putting wheels on the car today I took some pictures of the brake ducts on my car as I have trimmed them to fit. You get an idea of what you need to remove to fit them.

This picture shows the car on full lock and you can see that if they aren't trimmed you wouldn't get to full lock. They also would interfere with the ARB . This picture is with the car jacked up and the wheel off. When it is in normal running position if you don't shape the top part it catches on the ARB.

I got the Camera fitted a few days ago,but couldn't connect with my phone for some reason (android 5)
I eventually got connected using an old tablet that runs android 4 :)

The video quality is superb & the app is easy to use once connected lol.
Cam fits pretty well, but is very slightly out on the drivers side (2mm or so) this can't be seen though as the mirror covers it :)
My car has an aircon moisture sensor in the casing that was removed,I had to put that in the cameras casing.I have yet to scan if I have any errors from that sensor, but the AC works fine.
I took a screen shot of the quality as when I upload it the quality is automatically reduced :(
