Hello All,

I only have the standard mirror and with the normal headlight switch without the 'Auto'

I was told to have the auto dim mirror with the lights I will need Auto dim mirror with light sensor, replace the headlight switch and C/H L/H switch.
The parts alone is going to cost a staggering £267 plus fitting charge and that's without the rain sensor which I don't care about!

All I want is auto dim mirror and headlights or fog lights to come on for a brief moment at arming and disarming the alarm.

Is there a cheaper option of just buying a standard auto dim mirror without any sensors which is an easy DIY and same for the C/H L/H?

I'm not interested for the headlights to come on automatically or auto wipers!

Anyone gone that route or can advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

you'll need a different windscreen aswell from my look into the subject, aborted it due to the total cost was bonkers , I just use a torch now.

Lol! Torch hope it's a LED one???
Okay how about just coming home leaving feature?

back to my previous reply chap, I wasn't aware that a different screen was used and still don't think there is to be honest, there are a fair few extra parts that go with the mirror such as rain sensor and light sensor parts that go onto the screen etc, but, I went to audi last year and asked for a price and breakdown of the parts needed, on the list was a new screen aswell, when I checked the parts there are few different screen option but nothing states a specific screen to go with the parts, anyway the cost was too high just to have the few extra function so never went anyfurther with it.
there are a few guys that have done a similar ch/lh setup but not the oem route , its on the forum somewhere.

looks like if you want to do the full version oem styleeee , you will need a new screen to go with the rain sensor/light sensor fittings and mirror, and any other parts for the remaining ch/lh fit.

I'm going to go for just the CH/LH, not bothered if they come on in the daylight

Yeah, just the CH/LH for me as well, Mike you can take command on this and once done you can tell me all about it!!

Ive had all the bits to do this for quite a while, even the more rare ch/lh switch with the headlight adjustment rather than DRL switch.

Just never got round to fitting it yet lol!

Okay is there a guide for dummies on how to retrofit the C/H L/H for the fog lights to come on?

I have ordered this so far
  1. 8E2 919 094 A - Headlight range and Coming home switch
  2. 000 979 009 repar wire
Is there anything else I need?

Do I need the headlight switch with the auto dial?

Should be the same as the B7 is just a face lifted B6.

Everything I have checked wiring wise so far has been identical in a B6 and B7

Just taken mine out and it says 8E2 919 094 but I ordered the 8E2 919 094 A, Mike at parts confirmed this is in fact has the C/H L/H button on it so I can only assume the ''A'' means something unless someone can shed some light here?

Just checked the Central Module part number on mine and it reads ... 8E0 907 279 N - I take it this is the low line so I guess I am ******** and no C/H L/H for me then ?

If you have the full DIS display with bulb out warnings etc then you should have the Highline module

According to the thread I linked to from the forum, it can be done with the N module too

Sorry mate but whats DIS display bulb out warning ? When my headlight bulb died I had a warning on the dash - is that what it is?

So is mine a highline module then?

Yes, thats what it is. If you get the bulb out warnings then you should have the high line module,

Read the other thread, it has been done with the same module that you have

Well thanks God for that! I have HIGHLINE Yippeee!!!

Mike which thread is that...been reading so many threads TBH and am more confused now then I was initially!

well as you have managed to work it out chap, best do a concise write up with pics for all us lesser mortals to follow when you have done yours, just in case I change my mind again.....I can be a bit undecided sometimes..haha

Rob, just had a good look at the actual plugs in the car and I'm pretty confident I can run the 2 cables as per Gaz's instructions. Once the repair cables and the switch arrive I shall report back.
However I don't have access to VCDS and that's where I'll be stuck on!

maybe you should invest in a VCDS kit now chap, probably pay for itself within a short period of messing around with bits, and you'll allways have it to hand for future modding etc.
