My insurance has shafted me by doubling my premium this year. According to Admiral Audi A3 are on a "risk register" due to thefts/accidents. I really don't know if that's true but started looking around. Found a nice deal with another mainstream insurer but they keep calling my car a Quattro. I specifically pointed out it wasn't and asked for it to be amended prior to purchase. Logged onto new insurance account and it still displays A3 T FSI S LINE QUAT as model. I checked on the DVLA Gov site any my car come up as A3 T FSI S LINE AUTO. Lengthy discussion later they will now be sending a letter to me stating that my car IS insured and the reason for the Quattro is because that is the details DVLA provide when the vehicle reg number is searched. Anyone else have anything similar?
Thanks

Does your car have a private plate on it or has it ever had one?

Sometimes I have found that the details dont get updated and still refer to an old vehicle that a plate may have been on.....either way get in touch with the DVLA and see if they can go through it on the phone with you and confirm it is as it should be and obviously air your concerns about not being inusred etc...

I would respectfully recommend you change your Insurance Company. I had terrible problems with Admiral, they would keep my family on the telephone for literally hours and their “sales advisers” seemed to make it up as they went along as we experienced huge hikes in premiums followed sometimes by large reductions when pushed to do so after hours of negotiating on the phone. Their multi-car system is also very cumbersome when it to adding another car/driver mid-term with everyone else’s policy being disrupted in the process. We had a claim (roundabout situation) and despite supplying them with full details, witness statements and support for our position via the relevant section of the highway code, their staff made an arbitrary decision to get the matter sorted quickly.

With regard to A3s generally being on a “risk register” that typifies some of the garbage we had from Admiral.

No private plate. Still original. I have checked with the DVLA and they have confirmed that the car is classified as AUTO on their system not QUAT (Quattro).

Yeah they have always doubles or tripled our yearly multicar policy but this year they wouldn't budge so I took my business elsewhere. They weren't even bothered to be losing loyal customers and pretty much laughed when I rang back and asked for a price match.
