Hi All

Only had the A4 1.9 TDI (130) a month now but I've noticed that when I start her up in the morning there is white smoke, it usually clears after 30 secs or so. I've checked the coolant levels and I'm not losing any coolant.

Any ideas?
Cheers

The clue that it stinks hints at the Cat?

maybe stinks wasnt the right word, the smell isnt pleasant but maybe stinks was too strong LOL
editied my original post anyway

Check the usual suspects like the oil cap for mayo, the dipstick oil in terms of colour and there being just oil and not a mix of water vapour also.

Possible dirty injectors.....try running a tank full on injector cleaner.

When was the fuel filter changed last?

When was the oil changed?

Any fuel leaks?

Oil cap and dipstick are fine - just been serviced with new oil

will throw some injector cleaner in and check the fuel filter

no fuel leaks

White smoke is normally fuel related. I've just started using diesel rhino as an additive to give everything a good clean.

Off to find where I can get diesel rhino from

Does it run smooth whilst smoking or is it lumpy then smooths out and smoke goes?

Sometimes it does start a bit lumpy but goes pretty quickly

I'd say you have air getting into the fuel lines somewhere!

weirdly enough it didnt smoke at all this morning when I started it and ran smooth - will keep an eye on it and check what I can
