Two Audi cars were stripped of parts while parked on Pride Park during Derby County's League Cup match against Liverpool this week.

Police said one of the cars, a black Audi A5, which was parked behind the Mercedes garage on St Christopher’s Way, had its back window smashed and all four of the slate grey alloy wheels removed.

The other car, also an Audi A5, was parked near to the HSBC office on Pride Parkway when it was broken into. The sat nav and air conditioning unit was ripped out and an iPad and Macbook Pro were stolen.

Both offences happened between 18:00 and 21:50 on Tuesday.

Saw this on BBC news. Such a shame!

Who is stupid enough to leave a MacBook and iPad in their car near a football game, shocking this has happened, but common sense please!

Id guess with them stripping the cars the items inside were a bonus to the thieves.

Mmmm I wondered the same, I think I guessed that these were 'additional items' claimed for insurance purposes :)

I'm sorry but I disagree that common sense has anything to do with it unless the owner had left them in plain site, ....you should be able to leave items in your car hidden from view without worrying about scum bags breaking into your car.

I'm sure we've all left things of value unattended in our cars at one time or another whether it be a Sat Nav or whatever.

Not having a go at you Andy it's just that it is sad that people are worried/afraid to even leave things in their own cars nowadays. Need to start chopping off the limbs of these thieving scum bags imo when they're caught as that might put others off from doing it.

I leave things of value in my car; would I do it in a dodgy area, no. I'm not condoning the thrives actions at all, if anything they are lucky they left the cars on pallets I've seen some just dropped on the floor and left.

I feel sorry for the owners but a nice car is probably going to be a target to scum of the earth type people who think there will be nice stuff inside to nick. When i am in a car park and see a nice car i sometimes have a close look inside the car just to see how nice it is and i see so much stuff on show its not surprising that cars get broken into.

It is stupid but to be honest I know when I've gone to Wembley to see England play after work I just sling my laptop in the boot and hope for the best.
