I am just wondering how people have setup their Torque app and obd2 bluetooth adaptor.
What dials have you selected to monitor and what dial style?
Trying to get a good layout but struggling.

Also what setting have you entered for weight I believe the standard S3 8p is 1455KG, full tank of fuel roughly 45KG (60ltr X 0.75) so 1500kg plus driver weight. That sound about right?

Cheers.

I like using the Dial (Meter) gauges, they're easier to have a quick glance at compared to the Dial (Needle) and look better IMO. Whilst having 6 gauges up on my Xtrons Android 5.1 HU looks good, they're just too small and requires you to focus on them longer then you should be as your eyes should be on the road, I therefore use 4 gauges.

There's loads of different readings but quite a few don't work, some I'd really like to have but they don't work on the premium version either, so not sure if this is due to the ECU/OBD2 not providing it or that the Torque app doesn't support them (might look at DashCommand albeit £8). Vaccum/Boost is definitely the most helpful and important I'd say, so I run this with Fuel Rail Pressure, EGT's and Coolant Temperature.

I worked out the S3 weight exactly the same as you did, although my TD 1.2's only weight 15kgs each compared to the 2 tonne standard alloys, so I've taken them into account as well.

What about power and torque? Did you find that accurate to some degree.

I've only had the HU and Torque Pro for a couple of weeks now and haven't spent much time playing around with them. I will have another look at Power and Torque but pretty sure when I first tried, these were a couple that I couldn't get readings on, will try again though and let you know.

I have them working on my 2007 S3 but just wondering if others had used them and found them accurate. That's when I was wondering weight calculation, glad you used the same as me can't be too far off then. Just need to adjust for fuel levels.
Also what's the most accurate measurement of boost? Can select MAF, MAP and one other I think.

I've got the same year S3 as you so good to know that they work, will have a look at them later. That's a good question of which is one I cannot answer as my knowledge is limited I'm afraid, hopefully someone else might know or I might have a google myself.

I haven't a clue what you are all talking about. Do I need it? what is it? how does it work?

It's an android app that works in conjuction with an OBD2 connection that sends data to the app from the ecu & displays info like best 1/4mile time or tourqe readouts & even diagnostics.

My bluetooth adapter was £3.80 and the buying the pro app was £2-3 so worth it in my opinion. Good for monitoring what's going on and also can be used to check ecu faults and to clear them.

As Sherv has mentioned, Torque Pro is an app you can download onto your phone or Android HU and connect it to your cars ECU via the OBD2 connection with a OBD2 ELM327 bluetooth tool.

This gives you countless live readings such as Boost/Fuel Rail Pressure/Exhaust Gas Temperatures/Coolant Temperature the list goes on, as well as fault code readings.

It's under a tenner all in and very useful indeed, here are some links:
You can get the OBD2 slightly cheaper but that's the one I got which has good reviews and works fine.

Ah, all good info chaps. Any idea if I can link up OB one konobe to my Dynavin HU? Can already see oil temp/water temp/batt. voltage on the ASR function.

No worries. Haha well your Dynavin HU will have bluetooth I imagine and so it will be able to connect to OB one konobe fine, however it depends on if it is capable of downloading apps, do you know the model name/number of your unit?

This a quick screenshot after quickly setting the app up. Dont know if like the dials so will have a play.

It' dynavin N6 and has BTooth, i'll consult the manual and see if its possible

For BHP and torque figure what gear should you ideally be in to do a run to check what the car is putting out?

Same as dyno. 4th or 5th.
Figures are at the wheels.
Also you should set your weight right, mine is set on 1600kg or 1615kg.

Hi guys. I'm new at this and from South Africa to boot. You make it sound so easy to connect the elm327 scan tool. Ive tried varios apps including torque pro but can't seem to get my S3's ecu to communicate with my Android device. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

I'm still trying to get my ecu to communicate with the elm327. It tells me that the ecu is not connected

All I did was plug the Bluetooth adaptor into the obd port on the drivers side and connect to it on my phone under Bluetooth settings.
Opened torque app and let it scan for a few seconds and then it connected to the ECU.

Mine could scan for a couple of weeks but still doesn't talk to my ecu. Not sure if the elm is the real deal or not. Apparently there's a version that doesn't work

Sounds to me like your ELM is a dodgy one, I got one off (uk) ebay seller Stark_Tech for £3.72, just plug it in the port as others have said, start the Torque app and it connects within seconds. That's all there is to it

Here are my displays

@HHS3 i tried the one you bought. Didnt work for me :(

Maybe the fuse for our obd port may be blown. Do you have vcds and cable, if so can check if connection is working.

I do have it but no cable haha

Got it working easy enough, just had to select the right Bluetooth connection in the settings under OBD adapter settings, might help someone
