Cannot for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong if anything. Brakes are spongy but work, clutch very rarely engages quicker (bite point is lower)

What I've done so far
Replaced all calipers (breakers yard)
Rebuilt Master cylinder seals
New discs all round
New pads all round

Bled the F out of it, apparently not enough?

After a drive I felt the heat on the discs and the front left/back right were hotter than the front right/back left.

Anyone have any ideas?.
 
Maybe an air leak/split pipe between servo and inlet manifold, or do a full bleed via the vcds programme.
 
Checked the pipe by pulling the hose off during idle, car immediately died And can that be done with vcds lite?

Vac/air leak would cause hard pedal, not soft/spongy pedal...


You either still have air in the system (most likely) or one of your "new" calipers from the breakers is leaking (or a leak else where)

Try bleeding the master cylinder if you haven't done so already... Also, if air gets into the ABS pump, you need to follow the bleed procedure in VCDS.
 
I've been through all pipes and calipers, no leaks all bone dry, my gut is telling me that it may be the abs pump, so anyone know if I need full vcds or can I do it with vcds lite?
 
Apparently can't do it with vcds lite so is there another way?
 
Damn, only have lite version, anyone close by fancy helping out? Sunderland/Newcastle way
 
did you bleed the master cylinder properly.

when I serviced rear calipers and replaced a front caliper my peddle went all the way to the floor and the brakes only just worked. pressure bled the master cylinder screws and then repeated the bleed of the rear drivers, rear passenger, front driver, front passenger again, I needed 2 litres of fluid, you are supposed to wait for a flow for a good 100ml - not just starting to flow.
 
I've not got a pressure bleeder but I've got a one way bleed valve, so I'm gonna have at it tomorrow just done 2, 50 hour weeks had no time or effort to bother with it. I'll update tomorrow
 
Just as a follow up what should I bleed first? Master cylinder or brakes, also I've been told I should bleed clutch too, where does that fit into all of it?
 
I'm almost sure they're fixed?
Bought a pressure bleed kit and it's a f*** tonne better! Seems soft when I'm driving slow and is firmer when going faster but the braking power is consistent it's not like I have to pump it to get them going.
 
I'm not sure of the order but pressure bleeding is the way to go as the master cylinder seal can flip if you use the brake pedal on the full travel <-- I am only repeating advice given to me when I was asking the same question.

I needed to bleed the master cylinder as the cylinder had run dry whilst I was servicing the rear calipers, I didn't bleed the clutch as I read some threads where people had difficulties with the pedal dropping to the floor. Even nearly a year later I think I could have bled them more.
 
I saw a service manual page that says front left/right then back left and right, tried all ways tbh haha.

I also heard the same thing about seal flipping so I bought the kit in the end £19 from ecp well worth it.
 
It's diagnostic software was called VAG-COM previously made by company called Ross tech
