Just nipped down to Costco Chester, they are in the middle of building a new petrol station within the car park. As I walked past the meet and greet guy at the entrance to the store, I asked him when it was due to open, he said November. I then asked if he knew what fuel they will be using, he seemed very keen on the reply!!! "V-Power, only cheaper than going to Shell", I said oh that's good as I use it, he replied with "So do I in my car, hence how I know".

So come November anyone in the Chester area will be able to buy cheap quality fuel ;)

Out of interest is anyone using it from other stores?

I'd be incredibly surprised if Shell would let another brand use their one and only USP, make it public knowledge, and undercut them on price whilst they were at it.

It'd be like Audi letting Kia use their MMI systems.

Thinking about it you're probably right. I just did a quick Google search and a few other Cosco stations are selling 99 ron and some are saying that they use the same supplier as Tesco uses for theirs! If they do then that's good news, I got a tank full from Tesco in Dumfries last week and thought it was just as good as the V-Power.

I've heard tuners prefer the Tesco 99 stuff.

I like the Tesco stuff, always put it in my S3, never bothered with shell stuff unless I've had too. Car seems to go well on it but as I've never put standard in I suspect I'd be hard pushed to tell the difference.

I filled up at Haydock a few weeks ago, definitely 99 Ron (no idea of source) and at the time 14pence per litre cheaper than V-Power 108 vs 122

Car ran as well as V-Power as far s I could tell.

As far as I'm aware all the tuners prefer Tesco 99. It's 1 Ron better and about 10p a litre cheaper!

It was 1-RON better, about 5 years ago. V-Power Nitro+ is 99-RON.

Shame the BP garage here stopped selling Ultimate 102.

So roughly about £7 per tank less...so 4 tanks = Costco membership paid for!

Will have to try the Costco stuff when around that area (just over the border I am).
Have tried the vpower and tesco, don't see much difference, but tesco is closest and more convenient, so that wins.

Closest Tesco to me and I assume it's the one near you is on the Broughton shopping park or Mold....both too far for me :( Costco, I'm within 5 mins max most days :)

Regularly visit Broughton as the other half likes to go shopping there.
Your not to far from me then, Broughton is only a few mile up the A483.

Just outside Chester mate (Zoo side) ;)

As a diesel owner, I found that my car seems to love the premium diesels. On a diesel the main difference I notice is economy. I've measured it over a lengthy period and I reckon it gives at least 10% improvement in economy on my car. Even the on-board computer has shown MPG well into the 60s on a long motorway run.
