so Ive got the inlet manifold off my car at present was hoping to fit the PD inlet manifold but its went missing during the house move.. so my thoughts is I will clean out the original one for now. what would be the best product to use on it to get the carbon cleaned off? Ive seen folk say carb cleaner do you think this would remove carbon?

Also anyone any thoughts on a down pipe for a 1.9tdi quattro? Ive looked at the FWD it looks to run off at a different angle once its comes down the side of the gearbox. the one on my car has more or less disintegrated at the top where it bolts to the cat.

you'll need something like oven cleaner or similar to shift the heavy caked on stuff. Scrape as much out as you can first.

Alternatively, soak in diesel.

Mentioned the downpipe in the other thread, £50ish from the dealer seems to be the only option.

ive gave it a go with brake and part cleaner. think im going to go for the oven cleaner method next to get the rest of the crud out.

Yea Kev I gave Audi in Stirling a call there saying £66 so going to try the parts request on here and see if I can get it a bit cheaper.

when my lad did an EGR delete on his Passat he got the manifold cleaned by a local engineer in their parts cleaner - it came up like new. I don't know what the charge would be if the engineer wasn't a friend though.
