Hi All !!!
So - I have a 1996 A4 B5 (ADR Engine) and have recently been treated to the appearance of the Airbag Warning Light on the dash, which remains on after the engine is started and stays on all the time ! I realise that this is now an instant MOT failure situation and am therefore seeking help and/or inspiration !! I have seen various videos on the internet saying that this can often be due to faulty wiring and understand that the wiring is in fact under the seats - is this correct ? If so what colours are the wires/connectors and where precisely are they, as I cannot seem to find them ! Under the carpets so seats out job ?!! I have connected diagnostic equipment and Fault code given is "Airbag Igniter : Drivers Side N95" and note "Sporadic - Value of resistance too great." Any instructions/suggestions on how to fix this problem please ?

N95 is the actual airbag in the steering wheel. Its not the usual seat airbag issue, and your '96 wont have seat airbags anyway.

It is probably the slipring behind the steering wheel thats knackered, but could be the airbag itself.

Try unplugging the airbag and reconnecting a few times.

Best way is to have to ignition on and disconnect battery, then to disconnect airbag.. The reconnect and then put battery back on.

Then try to clear the faults.

Mine was the slip ring behind the steering wheel, I think it's called a clock spring, lucky that I found one one eBay UK that was new supplus. It fixed it and no more light.

could it be the controller? On my current car it gave a similar fault code IIRC and I replaced it with another controller I just happened to have to hand and it sorted it. Airbag controller is behind and below the radio and ventilation controls. it took a morning and was fiddly but I'm a duffer so it must be possible for most folks.

That's why I have 2 spare control units.. Because they tend to be *****...

It will be the clock spring as I said, you have the same fault codes as I did.
