Due to changing wants, I'm starting to look at options to trade in the S3 and replace it with a pocket rocket for local use (possibly a Swift Sport or similar) and a twin cab 4WD (possibly a Ford Ranger).

I can get both new for what I can sell the S3 for.

Early days and it might all fall apart but that's the plan so far.

Talk me out of my madness.

No! We will be glad to get rid of you....
Haha only kidding mate...
My brother has a Swift sport. It,s quite a nippy car but....It doesn,t cover the miles.well. My brother,s car has cover ed 30,000 miles and It,s beggining to show. Very poor gear changes ect..

We bought two new ones for our daughters. Both are on 90,000 km with no issues which is why we have it on the shopping cart list but point taken.

There is also a Kia xceed hatch here with 7 years warranty that gets good reviews. I can ignore the badge

Two for the price of one sounds good to me. Especially the twin cab as I've always fancied one as it's more practical than an estate car.

A mate of mine uses a 208 GTi as his run around, everything as standard and it goes like stink.

Bolt from the blue this mate, how long have you had the S3? Hmm l can't say or even try to advise on this one as l don't have any knowledge of the cars your looking at, but what l will say your S3 is one of the nicest on this forum and l know you have a topsy-turvy relationship with it,but it's still a corker at the end of the day.....my advice do what makes you happier, would be a shame for ye to ****** off to a KIA forum though lol

Have had the S3 for around a year now.

The S3 is almost too nice for around here.

The car is great but just not fulfilling what I want in a vehicle.

Wife is dead against selling it so I have some work ahead of me.

Based on your comment about your wife, I don't think you'll need any of US to talk you out of your plan.

My prediction: Wife 1 - @WarwickL 0

S3 stays...for now anyway...

Well, I've managed to talk her in to test drives of a Kia Proceed GT and a Ford Ranger today so first step in the grand plan :)

I may also play on her love for a yellow Swift Sport she has had for a some time

Well me ol **** sparrow you could knock me down with a feather!! Agree with Jassy, you've a cracking S3 mate but at the end of the day you've gotta go with what makes you happy. Sometimes I think mine is overkill for what I use it for but then again I do love driving it, oh and the admiring glances!

Would be sorry to see you leave the forum though, who am I gonna trade malt whisky tips with now?? lol

Unless you need one for your building firm then anything like a Ford Ranger is just wrong!

Life is too short - do what makes you happy ! If you don't lose out financially that's a win/win :)

Or for outback camping but guess that doesn't happen in the U.K. :)

Just back from a drive in one. Rather impressed.

Camping in the UK?? Best joke I heard in a very long time lol

100% true mate, if you want something and can afford it have it. No point being the richest man in the graveyard!

Whilst away last week my wife's father blacked out and fell on his face breaking his nose! after test to see why he'd blacked out = He'd had a fit caused by no less than 5 brain tumours. That's on top of him a few months back hitting 65 one Friday, retiring the following Friday and then the Friday after being told he had terminal cancer.

Another bloke that lives down the road from me aged 47 was found dead at the top of his stairs! No known health issues, always appeared to be healthy and walked everywhere as he didn't drive.

I concur. I do 400 miles a week in mine, should probably be driving a TDI, but hey why not lol

That's rotten on both counts and just proves life is too short to sit and dwell on things.

Do it today as there may be no tomorrow.
