Well having tried an A4 Avant 3.0 272 for the weekend, I was back in the dealers today dropping it off.

Sat down with the sales guy and ran some numbers, I was expecting massive negative equity in my S3 after only 15 months, but I was pretty close to break even (I had paid for all the options in cash, to keep the monthly pop artificially low) so speced up a 252 petrol, as I wasn't keen on a diesel and like the petrol S3.

Numbers didn't quite work but were pretty close, so the sales guy who is their performance specialist asked if I'd thought about the S4.

I had speced one up so he stuck that in the computer and with a bit of jiggery pokery got to a figure I was happy to pay that was only about £50/month more than the A4, although I suspect i could have squeezed some more out of them on the A4 if I'd pushed harder.

This discount and deal contribution was about 9% overall and the better residuals on the S4 seemed help but I didn't bring the A4 quote home so can't exactly compare.

Needing more space for a dog and a baby and given the fact I hadn't really gelled with my S3 it quickly became a heart over head decision and the paperwork was signed and a new S4 Avant is on the way.

Dealer told me a build week of 44 or 46, which I believe is end November/ Early December but perhaps someone on hear can tell me. I wasn't in too much of a rush for it and would be happy to wait until January

Nice one! Lovely little spec that. Ordering mine at the weekend. What build deposit did you put down if you do t mind me asking? Just to secure the build. Not your total deposit. Look forward to seeing this!

£500 build deposit. They wanted more, but due to issues surrounding a recent problem I'd had (which i won't go into, needless to say it's now all sorted) it was happily accepted by them.

Ooft! I got mine down from £2,000 to £750. I paid £500 last time. I too have had some crazy luck lately and things were tight. What's your favourite thing about the new car then? Your favourite option too?

Fave option, being into tech has to be VC as part of light and vision.

As for the car for me it's the whole package and particularly how it looks. Always loved the Avant stance and this is my first proper one after my Sport Back S3.

Hi, I'm new here and was originally looking at the A3 but the quality of the A4 is very tempting!

Can I ask what kind of deposit and then monthly costs you ended up with?
 
Thanks, I've done a CarWOW form this evening.

Always end up clicking far too many options and pushing that price up!

Build week and delivery are not the same! It can take a painfully long time to reach the UK from wherever they are making them now.

Thanks bud. Yeah, I know the red is a brave choice. Wouldn't work with many colours but Daytona feels right for it. I'm not in a huge rush. Need to squirrel rest of deposit away haha. At least it should come before the crazy April tax hike. Phew!

When were you told about your build week? How long after your initial order?

Still waiting to hear the 46/48 was based on what the sales guy said when I ordered. I'm hoping to have the order number soon.

Silly question relating to Audi Connect with the S4.

Obviously it's a 36 month package as standard (awesome) and I know it's all related to the traffic, maps, satellite etc. It has a wifi connection so, am I right in thinking I can just add my iPhone to the Bluetooth and use the onboard internet for Spotify and Whatsapp etc? Or does this require your phones data package?

You need to either a buy a data package for the cars embedded SIM or just use your phones on data connection. The builtin SIM will only support the Audi Connect services.

So.

Build week 46. Week commencing 14th Nov. Could be pushed back as it all depends when Audi UK want the S4 on the road. A lot earlier than I'd expected though! I've got to change my V5 as I've moved recently. Well 'that' shouldn't take long...:whistle2:

Who's got the most complex options list? :tongueclosed: They're gonna be last! Haha. Nah, god knows. If they're here before 2017 I'll be very surprised. Things grind to a halt in December.

There's a tracker on ASN isn't there? You guys using it?

So I've used the 'Your Audi' tracker and my order number doesn't match anything in the system. Might take a while to update I guess.

Mine took 7 days to appear in My Audi. On the day it started working, I got an email from Audi UK saying they were processing the order. I think every change in order status is accompanied by one of those emails.

I actually don't mind when mine turns up so long as it's before the car tax changes. The deal has guaranteed my p/x.

It'd be a great Christmas present though. Albeit it I'll have to get someone to detail it rather than doing it myself.

It won't fit thin the garage so have to work on it outside in the drive and i can't see me getting good enough weather to get a ceramic seal on the paint.

It's a shame you don't have any cover. I use my girlfriends' dad's unit. Gazebo? Not ideal though with curing. I hope my PX deal is secured haha. They said they'd track the value of it but I keep checking the value myself too. Seems to be holding. Black edition so...helps a little.

I'll be using Koch Chemie nano coat on mine. Then Seal the glass and wheels. Can Audi alter the ride height in house?

I don't think there are any dealers cars in the UK yet. As i understand it dealers builds start from Wk42 so cars will be here about 3-4 weeks later.

On that basis I'd not expect to see a car before second week on November at the earliest.

Spoken with the dealers today, I was actually quite surprised to get the call at quarter to six, I'm told week 46 has become week 45, but my my audi link is still not working , I'm still wondering why not... dealer wasn't sure but has gone away to investigate.

Car should be here mid December. Now that will be a nice Christmas present.

I was also told the order has been locked down since last Wednesday so no changes now, that's good though because I was bound to get restless thinking I should change something. I have to say though it's the first time i haven't when ordering a new car.

Just a waiting game now.

I never received a call or email but just checked my order on my Audi again and I've got same build week as yourself too so fingers crossed for an epic Christmas present!

Just a bump for ride height question. Can Audi alter it in-house upon delivery? It does sit a little high. There could be more between it and the S-line. Also, VCDS for the exhaust flaps. Hearing loads about this on the threads for the RS4 and especially the S3.

Not gonna pretend I know what I'm doing and don't have access to VCDS. Any operators in the West Yorkshire area per chance? Long wait ahead but excited now!

I'm really interested in the VCDS exhaust thing too (as long as it's more efffective than tying the flap back with metal wire on a twin exhaust S3, as was all the rage back then :))

Still nothing on the order tracking front. Reading a bit more i suspect the order ref hasn't been updated to my details.

I'm still lead to believe it was on that the dealer had already ordered and changed the spec on. Fingers crossed it'll only be a couple of days an it will pop up.
