Hi,

My mate has dumped his Allroad on me and asked for help.

He has an issue of dash lights staying on, doors being shown as all open on DIS. Electric windows don't work. Ultimately the battery ends up flat.

My feeling is the CCM module in the footwell.

I can't get vcds onto it yet as my laptop is currently away for repair.

He mentioned he had an issue with his Air-conditioning drains filling the footwell but he's rectified that now.

Any pointers before I start ripping the carpets up etc?

Cheers.

It does sound like the ccm I had similar issues and also when you lock it it unlocked itself. I took it out wire brushed the pcb with a soft wire brush and WD40'd it then resealed the box and it's been fine. That was almost 3 years ago, I found it was the rear wash wipe pipe had come apart on the joint in with the loom right in the corner.

OK so I've had the CCM out today. There was a bit of moisture around the box.

Inside the box was dry.

No corrosion on the plugs/pins.

No evidence of water marks at all on the PCB.

Without my laptop, I can't connect to car via vcds. I'll have to wait until it's repaired.

My mate did say he was told his issue of battery draining and lights being on etc was due to the instrument cluster. He has a spare cluster and possible pin for it.

Is a cluster swap with pins easy to do on these? Any immobiliser issues?

Cheers.

Where are you? My laptop has full vcds if your near Devon or Bournemouth. Did you still spray it with WD40 just to make sure?

The next place to check is the drivers door lock, these have micro switches which the seals go on. My wife's Allroad had this one day it was fine, left it while I was away for 3 weeks and then it would open all the windows, lock and unlock itself, show doors open randomly and turn the interior lights on.
I changed the door lock and that cured it. You'll find the drivers side mechs are more expensive as its a common thing.

You can just unplug the drivers door actuator and see if this cures it. If so that's the fault.

I'm just up the road from Devon.....In York. Lol. I'm hoping to hear back today about my laptop. There are some people near me with VCDS, so if my craptop isn't going to be soon I'll message them.

That's interesting about the door mech. The little button on drivers door operates the door locks but nothing happens. It just reverts back to being locked/open. All windows remain closed and as far as I'm aware, they don't open by themselves.

My mate is fetching a new battery over as the current one is draining after a couple of days, even when disconnected from the car.

I didn't spray Wd40 no. I'll check for communication with vcds before I do that. I haven't put the trims back yet so it's still accessible.

Many thanks for your input. It keeps giving me things to check for.

To unplug it, did you remove the door trim or use the multiplug that's in the door shut in the A-pillar?

Cheers.

Dan

I took the door trim off and just unplugged it, I left it unplugged whilst a second hand unit arrived. Definitely worth a check for the sake of 2 screws. Access is so easy on the Allroad too as its a 2 part door.

7 working day and my craptop will be back.

To be honest, I was hoping it wasn't repairable but glad it is, as I won't lose all my files now.

If the battery can't hold its charge even for two days when disconnected from the car then that might actually be the problem. Strange things can happen when the voltage goes down...........

The battery has only recently gone like this as the car has been parked up for the last 8 months. Was behaving this way before and is why the Allroad was parked up.

Maybe a new battery will cure it. Will see when a new battery arrives.

So, my friend finally got a new battery for the car. It's massive and doesn't quiet fit in the battery tray but for now that's the least of the cars' problems.

So once the battery is connected the radio lights come on.

with the side lights on, the hvac etc lights up as they should. So the stereo is getting a feed for the back lights.

Also, in neutral there are no doors signs, just the usual message about foot brake being pressed. Put the car in drive and the dis shows all doors and boot open

I've had the ccm out again tonight and it's bone dry. No corrosion anywhere, not even on the pins or in the plugs.

I will plug laptop in tomorrow afternoon and have a look at disconnecting drivers door lock.

Any other pointers for me to look at whilst I'm in the car tomorrow?

Cheers.
