Misfire when coming onto full boost. Car shudders and boost that has built drops off.

Changed spark plugs
Changed coil packs
Changed fuel filter
Car is freshly serviced
Tried a reset (batt disconnected overnight)

Car was purchased with this problem, I was rather hoping the above would fix this but it has not.

Any ideas?

Many thanks

fuel pressure/pump?
MAF sensor.. (unplug it and try, see if it drives better)

access to vcds will be invaluable in your diagnosing this

I have replaced the MAF just now with a brand new OEM item, with no difference.

Also tried unplugging it and it still has the same symptoms.

I notice there is signs of leaks around the fuel injectors, could a minor leak possibly create this effect?

unlikely.. big leak maybe.. or failing fuel pressure

misfire is usually coils, plugs, but if not those, then next items are MAF sensor and/or fueling.. pump etc

beyond that, its an engine issue internally.. (*usually not but these are cars! anything can happen and usually does when you least expect it)

throw some other random possibilities why don't you - lol

ecu, coil wiring, wrong air freshener, spark plugs

I may have inserted one too random in there by accident :p

yeah he has already changed the plugs and coils which is the common misfire cause.

you yourself highlighted standard un-ported chinafold manifold can cause a misfire (on cylinder 3 if I remember rightly) and a head gasket failure can also cause a misfire therefore why couldn't a cracked head too? and Audi S3s crack heads all day long (again throughout this forum) and the head gasket failure on mine caused an early morning misfire by leaking water into the cylinder.

clearly without any fault code its all guess work - I apologise for guessing.

After a missfire under boost on my AMK, removing my sump to clean everything up/replacing suction pipe and realising it's dropping coolant on the floor it was quite clear to say a headgasket was at fault :(

where does he say he has a chinafold?? and for the record, its cyl2 which suffers

everyone can guess.
Op needs to check stuff himself. internet diagnosis can only go so far..

fueling/weak pump is my guess based on the cars I see frequently. We probably change a fuel pump per week on cars in for mapping because they're weak and tired

I'm sure I've seen a magic tree air freshener cause a rod bend; might be pushing it to blame a misfire on it though
