Hi people,
Were's the best place to hardwire a dashcam? could i do it from the interior light near the rear mirror? Thanks Bioman1966

When I fit them I take a feed from the fuse box on the o/s of the dash.
Then neatly run the cable up the A pillar, across the lining, out near the rear view mirror boss

All neat n tidy

Yes you need to run them to the fuse box. In the B8 A5/4 they are located in the side of the dash, either the driver or passenger side.

I ended up using a piggy back fuse block from the wiper system fuse socket in the end.

It would probably work, but I would strongly recommend taking the time to do a proper install by tapping into a fuse in the fuse box using Add-A-Circuits or similar.

I have installed one in my A3, the best thing is to use a dude piggyback lead as below. I have used both switched live and permanent live feeds for mine. I normally use permanent live as the Blackvue camera I have has a low voltage cut off and only records when it see's movement, so after a 12 hour shift in work it is still running with no issues and the car is very rarely stood for more than that, if it is, it's in the garage with no movement.

When I went on holiday and left it in the P&R, I changed it to switched live so not to drain the battery.

For permanent live I used the theft alarm feed, then for switched live I used the "cornering light / LED headlight", these feeds work perfectly or whatever is most similar in yours.

Any ideas on what permanent and what switched live feeds can be used on a s3 8l? Thanks
